Hi, I'm Jill
I grew up in Washington and Texas. I am a stay-at-home Mom to one little boy and a wife to my best friend. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am the youngest of 5 children and now I have started my own family. I met my husband in College. He is now finishing up his MBA and I am a stay-at-home Mom to our boy who is less than 1 year old. I enjoy writing and blogging. I love to cook and I absolutely love to read. I am finishing up my degree online in psychology. I would like to pursue my masters in counseling so that when I'm done raising children I can help others with the knowledge I have gained. I highly value education and am always learning from new books on cooking, healthy eating, parenting, History, and financial stability. I love my Family and feel like I have the best job on earth being a Mother.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised in a Mormon family, however that is not the reason I continue to be a Mormon. I am Mormon because I believe what this church teaches with all my heart. Throughout my life I have had many small but significant moments that have confirmed the Truth of this Gospel to me. I want more than anything to live with my Family and my Heavenly parents and Jesus Christ for eternity and the Gospel has taught me that I can have that. My faith has helped me grow in countless ways. I have become a stronger woman and a better person. I rely on my faith when I go through hard times like my parents divorce. I have read the Book of Mormon and know that it is true and that it was revealed to Joseph Smith by God. I certainly do not believe revelation stopped in Biblical times. I know there are prophets of God on earth today. I know God continues to speak with men and women. We are his children. He loves us and wants us to return home to live with him and be like him. I know I have a brother, Jesus Christ who died for me and my sins and I am so grateful to him for that.
How I live my faith
I live my faith in every part of my life. I serve in my church through my callings. One of my callings is to visit 3 women in my Ward every month. I check up on them, develop friendships with him, have them over for dinner, and offer to help them in anything they need. One of the women I teach is Brazilian and is learning English. Normally I do these visits with another woman in my Ward, but because my husband served a mission in Brazil and speaks Portuguese, we visit her together. At the end of each of these visits I share a brief message specifically for women from a church magazine called the Ensign. The messages are always positive and uplifting.
I also serve by helping out the leader of the women in our ward. I'm her secretary. I take roll on Sundays, welcome new members, create a monthly newsletter and keep the women up to date on Church activities and social events through email and the newsletter. I attend a monthly meeting where we discuss how we can better help the women in our Ward. I have been asked on occasion to teach the class for women on Sundays. My husband serves in the church as a ward missionary. Him and I attend a class every Sunday with new members of the Church, or people that are investigating and wanting to learn more. We make friends with these new people and help them with any questions they may have.
I also live my faith by being a friend to anyone and everyone. I love going to the Park and meeting Mom's of all different faiths. We discuss how we apply our faith in God to our daily lives. I try to be a good example in my every day life and I'm always open to answering questions or engaging in discussions about my religion. I read my scriptures with my little boy, by myself and with my Husband. We pray often in our home and we attend church every Sunday. I love to share my beliefs with others through facebook, in person, and through my blogs ihavefaithinchrist.blogspot.com.
