Joshua Wallace: physics, runner, college, science, chinese, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Joshua Wallace

I grew up in Utah, USA. I'm studying physics in college. I love music and running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to college. I am studying physics. I love the sciences, especially those relating to physics and astronomy. I enjoy long-distance running. I also enjoy listening to music. I will be getting married in January! I am the oldest in my family, with two brothers and one sister. I hope in the future that I may be able to marry and have a family of my own, to go to space, and also to be of great service to my country and community. I love my country, my family, and my God.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been Mormons for several generations. I grew up in this church and my parents have taught me about it. But the real reason why I'm a Mormon is because I know for myself, independent of anything anybody else has ever shared with me, that it's true. I've studied the Book of Mormon and I know that book is true. I've prayed and asked God and He's told me everything else is true. That is why I decide to continue in the faith of my fathers, because of the personal witness I have.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I had the opportunity to serve as a missionary for my church in Hong Kong from May 2009 to June 2011. For three months I went to a training center in Provo, Utah to learn Cantonese and how to use it to teach the gospel to others. After that I was a full-time volunteer in Hong Kong to teach whomever we could find that wanted to learn more about the good news of Jesus Christ. I loved my time there! Of all the things I have done in my life, I feel like my mission has had the most influence on the most people, including myself. I would go back out and serve again if given the opportunity! To see the change come over someone else as they learn about and apply the power of Jesus Christ in their lives, there is nothing more rewarding. I wasn't on a mission to add numbers to the membership of the church; I was there because I loved those people and wanted so much to bring them with me to church on this earth and to the eternal throne of Jesus Christ in heaven above, so that we may be eternally happy.

How I live my faith

I recently concluded two years of unpaid missionary service in Hong Kong for my church. I enjoyed my time there as I was able to see the gospel of Jesus Christ take effect in the lives of other people and change them completely. Before that I had served in my local congregation in many different ways, including visiting various members of the congregation to make sure their physical and spiritual needs were being met and also helping to prepare the bread and water used in our weekly sacrament services. Outside of formal assignments such as these, I also love to serve others whenever the need arises. I've helped many people lay sod in their yard as they've moved in to my neighborhood and also do my best to strengthen those of my friends and families who are struggling in their lives. I daily seek how I can be of service to the Lord in blessing the lives of His children.
