Hi, I'm Kris
I'm a biologist and love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a research biologist and work for the government. My work has taken me to different parts of the world where I've met some wonderful people. No matter where I go or who I meet, I have come to realize that all of us want basically the same thing in life – to be happy.
Why I am a Mormon
As a young boy, I never had any reason to doubt that our church was true, since many people told me that it was. However, there came a time when I asked “Is this for me? Does God want me to be a Mormon?” At this crossroads in my life I realized that I didn’t really know very much about what a Mormon was “supposed” to believe in. I decided to read The Book of Mormon and other church materials every day for the period of a few weeks. During this time I felt a wonderful abiding peace within me which I felt was from God. This was my answer that The Church was actually true. Shortly afterwards I listened carefully to the words of the living prophet at that time, President Gordon B. Hinckley, and again I felt genuine peace and happiness sweep over me. Once I felt God’s love, it is the only thing that I ever wanted to feel! My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has fostered my beliefs that God really exists and loves all of us.
How I live my faith
Being kind to others at church, at work, or in the community brings meaning into my life and is good therapy when I have my own trials. Going to church is like a spritual oasis at the end of my week as I listen to hymns and hear testimonies. I also enjoy quiet time alone when I can read the scriptures and think about how they apply to my life. Prayer refreshes my faith that God is now only aware of us, but that He also knows our needs and how to meet them. I go to the temple regularly and feel close to God in a special way because it requires my spiritual preparation to enter into His house.
