Hi, I'm Stacey
I was born on a farm in South Dakota and now live in Calif. as a stay at home mom and wife with 5 kids. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I have always loved the outdoors and being physically active. I love gardening because I am in nature and it must be my dad's genes showing up in me.
My mom was a crafty person and I seemed to have inherited that part of her. Making greeting cards with rubber stamps and all the other tools and materials has been a great interest for me and has lead to scrap booking.
Now I only seem to have time for my grandchildren, shopping, and the garden. I do make time for aqua aerobics 4 days a week and zumba 2 days a week.
I love my children and their children so much. I want to be the grandmother who always has time for her grandchildren. The grandmother who will have a profound affect on their lives, to be there when needed and trusted when it really counts.
Why I am a Mormon
I chose to be a member of the church because I felt in my heart a burning, an overflowing of the spirit which came out in the form of tears when I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon by the missionaries who taught me. They challenged me to pray about what I read. The answer was very real and I knew without a doubt that this church was Christ's church and I wanted to be a part of it.
I wanted to be sealed in the temple for all time and eternity to a good man some day and have our children live with us in the celestial kingdom forever.
I love the spirit testifying of the of truthfulness of the gospel when I listen to talks by members every Sunday, when I listen to our leaders in Salt Lake City every 6 months, when I read the Book of Mormon, when I listen to our full time missionaries.
Personal Stories
How has attending Church services helped you?
I feel a renewed strength, motivation to be a better person in the areas I may be having difficulties in. Strength to carry on and make the right choices in keeping the commandments
A filling of my cup so to speak. I know I am not the only person struggling and learn there are other ways of copping with my problems.
What is hope and what do you hope for?
Is what you want to happen in the future. I hope to live with my husband and children with Heavenly Father after death for eternity.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
In the church you are given lots of opportunity to share your talents our gifts by teaching a class, being a home or visiting teacher, holding a job in the church which affects others, as a mom my talents and gifts have blessed my husband and children.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I went on a mission because the Lord's work these days is done only through us. We are his hands and I wanted to show my Father in Heaven that I loved him enough to stop my everyday life to only do His work to help others for two years.
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
Every day I pray knowing my Heavenly Father hears my prayers and wants me to talk to him as much each day as possible so he can bless me and help give me strength.
What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?
Being a member of the church, knowing one of my purposes in life is to be more Christ like. The study of the scriptures, attending the temple, attending church every Sunday to be reminded of what my purpose on earth is. In general keepimg the commandments and following the prophet.
How I live my faith
The gospel teaches you to live the 10 commandments and try to be like Christ. I really try to do this but am not perfect. I especially try to work on loving my neighbor as I love myself and being honest.
Everyday I can find someone in or out of the church, someone I may never see again but is in need in the littlest way. Yesterday I helped a lady in a wheelchair in my grocery line by putting her groceries on the belt of the register. A small thing but it gave me a warm feeling to help and made me feel so blessed not to be in her situation. She thanked me at least 4 times before I left the line.
Honesty is another area I feel really try to be good about because there is so much dishonesty in the world today and it is so important. Once in awhile people act like you might be crazy when you are honest about something that most people would be dishonest about but that makes me feel so good. Case in point, my husband and I were living in Russia serving a church mission when our landlord came to us and wanted us to sign a legal document saying our rent was 1/4 of what we were really paying a month and then the landlord would pay a small tax. If we didn't agree and he had to fill out the document with the real price we would have to pay a yearly tax of $3,000. American dollars on top of our monthly rent. Our landlord couldn't believe we would do that. When he sold our apartment and the new landlord went through the whole thing again the next year and we declined to be dishonest again our original landlord said see I told you they would not do it. We felt so proud of ourselves and set a great example for them.
I do attend my church meetings every Sunday and attend the temple every week since we live so close now. I visit teach 3 ladies, and help my husband home teach 3 of his families every month.
My husband and I are ward missionaries and he is now the ward mission leader so we fellowship families and investigators in our ward every week.
