I love to cook and read. I have worked all my life and look forward to someday retiring but I'm not sure I'd know how to be. I have a need to be busy. Since I joined the church I have learned lots of skills. I have learned to do canning and preserving, sew, lead music and many other things. I'm a widowed mom of 4 children but only 3 are living.
One of the things that drew me to the church was the idea of living before we can to this life and going on afterwards. I as a child had a hard time believing that this was all there was. When they shared the Joseph Smith story about Joseph seeing God the Father and Jesus Christ I just knew it was true. It took me over a year to join the church since my parents were unsure but they supported after I made my decision and always respected my choice.
Church is my life. I have served in many different ways. Right now I'm serving as the women's organization leader. I have learned to love the sisters in my ward even more than I thought it possible. Through the years I have served with the young children and I have organized parties and activities for the general group. I have conducted the choir which has been one of my favorite callings probably because it scared me the most. I have always loved music but never thought me capable of leading a group and with a lot of encouragement and faith it worked out. I have truly been blessed in many ways for being willing to be the hands of my Father in Heaven. When my husband died having these wonderful people in my life and being able to think outside myself was a life saver.
