I love to spend time hiking, walking and being active with my family. We have the BEST times together!! I always try and cherish every moment with them!! My husband and I love to find new places to explore and hike...We hope in the near future to climb Half Dome!! In our spare time we love to be with each other. I love to scrap book, cook and bake with my daughter. We love to try new recipes and decorate cakes and cupcakes. Also, I love to decorate my home inside and out for every holiday. I love to work in the yard...not weeding....though it has to be done and the outcome it good!! This year I started a garden and I am enjoying it so much...taking time to grow my own vegetables and learning as I go. What a wonderful feeling to grow and eat my own food. I love to read, do crafts and spend my time being creative. I am a paraprofessional and work with special ed students which I love. I love my students and I charish my time in my job with them...there are days that are harder than others, but at the end of the day...I know this is where I am supposed to be!! I love my job!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized in 1979 at the age of 16. My family moved in the middle of my 8th grade year and it was very hard on me. I was shy and very quiet and not very good at making friends. My first day at my new middle school during lunch I stood next to a pole waiting for lunch to be over, during this time, a girl came over and asked me to eat lunch with her and her friends. Little did I know this day would change my life forever...Dawn became one of my very dearest friends even today. As time went on she invited me to church and church activities. My parents were not to sure about the Mormon church, this was the first time they or I had heard of the Mormons. I went to church off and on until I was 16 years old. Then some things happened in family and we started to have the missionary lessons and then in November of 1979, we were baptized as a family. It was one of the greatest blessings in my life especially as I raise my family in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I served a mission when I was 21 and I went Guatamala, Guatamala City. Another great blessing in my life. Then when I returned home I met my eternal companion and had 2 beautiful children, which we have come to find out through doctors were miracles!! The Lord had blessed me with so much and I am eternally grateful to Him and I thank Him everyday for everything I have!! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is way of living and I have chose to live my life according to his principles, commandments and teachings. There is no other way for me to live. I truly know that this is the only true church upon the earth today and I know God plan for me and I strive to become who He wants me to become. I hope to someday stand before Him and thank Him for everythng He has done for me and given me. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me stronger and able to overcome weaknesses with His help. I know He loves me and wants me to retrn to Him.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Mormons go on missions to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all those who have not had the chance to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Missionaries have a great love for all people and want them to have the knowledge and happiness that we all share being members of this wonderful gospel. I served a mission after being a member for only 5 years. It was a way of thanking my Heavenly Father for blessing my life with the Gospel. I wanted other people to feel their Saviors love and have the joy and happiness of knowing that Heavenly Father has given us a plan that we all can live by and return to him someday and live in His presence forever. I wanted them to know that they have a Heavenly Father that loves them so much and A Savior Jesus Christ who gave loved each one of us so much, He gave his life for us. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can repent and be made clean and we can only do this because of the great sacrifice out Savior Jesus Christ made for each one of us. Everybody should have this opportunity to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ and feel His love for them. I hope to someday serve a mission with my husband and be an insturment in Lord's hands once again!!

How I live my faith

I love serving in and out of church. I find it is just as important to fulfill your church calling as it is serve in your community. We are Gods children and we are all sisters and brothers in the Lords eyes. We need to treat each other as if we have always been together since birth. I look at people as individuals and all are unique in their own way. we all have something to offer and we all can learn from each others knowledge and talents. I have held various callings and enjoyed them all. I have taught the youth, young women, which is was rewarding and I learned just as much from them as I hope they learned from me. I taught seminary which is an early morning church class for the high school students. They meet every morning at 6am before school, Monday through Friday. We started each day by studying the scriptures and learning from each other. What a wonderful way of starting your day!! I have also been involved with Boy Scouts, all ages, and I have taught in Primary and as of right now I am secretary in the Relief Society which is for women 18 years and older. I have learned so much with each of my callings, I look at a calling as what can learn and do to help someone learn and how can I learn myself and be a better person. I try and serve in my community where can...I have donated time wherever it is needed. I love to helpo at Special ed events and watch the smiles and these invisiduals succeed at whatever they set their minds too. I try to do my part to make my community a better place to live and enjoy!!
