Hi, I'm Kenneth Chen

I Grew up in Taipei Taiwan, moved to Vancouver Canada when i was 14. Joined the church in Feb 2007 and i am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving in the Canadian Forces as a combat engineer, posted with 1CER in Edmonton Alberta. I am currently single, going to the YSA ward in Kingsway. Some of my habbies are reading, working out, and playing computer games.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to join this church because the knowledge i learned from this church makes the most sense. I chose to continue to follow His gospel because i know that it is the right ting to do, and it is through following his commandments that we are bless both in this life, but also able to return to him after this life is over.

Personal Stories

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The lord teaches us that those who have the abilities, should use the abilities that is given to them, and to selflessly help others. For me, I felt that this teaching influenced me the most, hence the reason why I joined the army.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

Through the gifts and talents i was given, i can use them to protect and defend those who are helpless. Bring hope to those who has none, and bring peace to a world that is overrun by violence.

How I live my faith

The only easy day was yesturday. That's the way how i see it, God doesn't expect us to be perfect here in this life, but he does expect us to follow His commandments to the best of our abilities no matter how hard it seems.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Long story short, it summons up as, no sexual intercourse before you are married. Once you are married you can only have sexual intercourse with your spouse. No, gay marriage does not count as being married. Last I checked, its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Here is a list of things you should avoid if you choose to follow the law of chastity.

1. No sexual relations outside of marriage.
2. No Gay marriage
3. No masterbation
4. No Porn

The power to create children is very sacred. Our Father in Heaven has commanded that the sacred power and privilege of sexual relations be exercised only between a man and woman who are legally married. This is the law of chastity. It means that we must not have sexual relations before we are married, and after we are married we should have sexual relations only with our husband or wife.

Keeping the law of chastity brings safety, happiness, peace, and self-respect. It also deepens married love and protects families. Breaking this law is serious. But those who have broken it can gain forgiveness and peace through repentance and obedience.

God wants the best for you and for all of His children. Following God’s plan of reserving intimacy for marriage will help you and your family be happy.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Everything around us testifies of a God who created all things. The complexity of life points toward an Intelligent Being who designed it, organized it and brought it to existence. The probability that everything around us may have arisen by mere chance is infinitely small, and the idea of a Supreme Creator is the only one that can make sense of all the beauty and complexity of nature including ourselves. And yet, these still do not prove the existence of God in the same sense that scientific concepts are proven. It is really impossible to prove the existence of God in the same, logical way used in science (the scientific method). That is why we say that we believe that there is a God, even if we have not seen him - this is called faith. I have not personally seen God, but my inner self tells me that he exists. Ultimately, it comes down to individual choice. We decide based on what we see and feel, on what the surroundings tell us, whether God exists or not. I choose to believe that there is a God, and this choice is one of my most important freedoms.
