Hi, I'm Rachael
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I have a degree in Electronics Technologies. I spent 6 years working with various Government Agencies in Wildland Fire as a two-way communications technician (like walkie-talkies, only fancier!). My job took me all over the Western States and a LOT of Alaska. This world we live in is so beautiful, and my job granted me the privilege of seeing quite a bit of it!
When I married my super awesome husband, and decided to start our family, I resigned from my very busy and full of travel career. I am now a stay-at-home mom with 2 girls! I miss my job sometimes, but I LOVE my family! We struggle, we play, we have ups and downs, but we are always FAMILY!
As a stay-at-home mom, I sometimes have an opportunity to work on my various hobbies and talents. I love sewing and creating new things, reading, learning, and playing my piano, flute and guitar.
Why I am a Mormon
I've had the joy of learning the Gospel all my life. Having the Holy Ghost as a companion since I was 8 has made a difference in my life. I haven't always made the right choices, but I've always come back "home".
I know Jesus Christ is my Savior, and my brother. Our families are the most important part of this life. God has given us the Gospel to help us learn and teach our family so that we can return to live with and be like Him some day!
I've had opportunities to go to different churches through my life, and this has strengthened my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church on the Earth today that has the entire truth. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father that I am alive at this time to have the strength of the truth and great brothers and sisters to live and grow with!
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
Family is the most important thing in this life. It is our hope to be reunited with them through living the Gospel and participating in sacred ordinances in the Temple. In order for our family to be reunited, we need to know who they are! Family history genealogy is how we find our ancestors. Necessary Temple work can then be done for them by proxy so they can enjoy all that eternity has to offer!
How I live my faith
I have served in many ways in the Church. From Pianist to President, I've had lots of different learning experiences. Currently, I teach the Gospel Principles class on Sundays. I love teaching the basics to new and prospective members. And the the lessons are great reminders for myself and other longer-time members.
In my community, I have participated in Postpartum support groups, child-care and parenting classes. My hope is that as I join with members of my community in these services, they will see the light of Christ in my words and actions and want to know where it comes from!
