About Me

I am a young mother of two - a 2 year old girl and a new baby boy. We are living in Nebraska while my husband is attending law school. I love cooking, eating, and learning about food. I love all things food. I am a labor and delivery nurse part time and love my job. But most of all, I love being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

To me, it just makes sense. We are children of our Heavenly Father and he sent us to this earth to be happy. The principles of the gospel help me understand why I am here and where I am going. These principles guide me down a path that give me the greatest happiness.
I was born in a Mormon family. My parents and siblings helped to teach me the gospel. I gained my own testimony slowly, step by step, and continue to learn and gain a greater testimony. As I study and learn more about the gospel, it just makes sense, I have a feeling of peace and I know that it is true.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is the way that we can talk to our Heavenly Father. It is a way I can ask for specific blessings and thank Heavenly Father for all the blessings I have in my life. It has been a great comfort and strength to me when I have felt like no one else understood the struggles I was facing. But Heavenly Father knows all - the joy and the pain. As I have turned to Him in prayer, He has blessed me with comfort and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the principles of the gospel. I try to follow as exactly as I know how.
Everyone in the congregation has a calling, or job, in the church. Right now I am serving as the Primary Chorister. I help the children learn songs about Jesus, the Book of Mormon, and all the principles of the gospel.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe in a second book of scripture, called the Book of Mormon. It is another testament of Jesus Christ written by prophets in the Ancient Americas. It was compiled by a man named Mormon and because of this it is called the Book of Mormon. Because of our belief in this book we have been given the nickname, "Mormons."

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We do not know why some people are attracted to others of the same gender. Is it the way they were born or is it a choice? We simply don't know.

What we do know is that everyone is a spirit child of God, and that He loves all his children. We should love EVERY man or woman who walks the earth, and reserve judgment for our Heavenly Father, who knows and understands all his creations.

At the same time, God has revealed his will on many matters through his servants the prophets. Through them, we know that sexual relations between any but a man and woman, legally and lawfully married, is displeasing to Him. Just as unmarried men and women should remain morally clean, so should those who feel attracted to others of the same gender.
