I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 26 and i have been a memeber of the church for two years now and it has been the most wonderful experience of my life. I haven't always had the faith i have now and being a recent convert i found it hard at first to fit in, but then i realized it doesn't matter what the other members in my ward think of me i belong here and that is where i will stay at least til i am married. i love my savior as well as my father in heaven more then any words could ever discribe. I enjoy going to as many church activities as i can, when work permits. I love sports and being outside. I enjoy reading and writting they are two of my biggest passions in life. i love being a memeber of the church.

Why I am a Mormon

my best friend introduced me to the church, one day he just walked up to me and he says "you should go to church with me on easter sunday" i was taken a back by the statement so i just told him oh really and he tells me yes now you should go find a cute dress to wear. so i did and then just a two months after i first atended church my grandfather passed away and my best friend who was our ward mission leader at the time set up a meeting with the missionaries for me this was just a little more then a month after my grandpa passed away, and they used the lesson of the plan of salvation to help me understand i will see my grandfather again and families can be together forever which is one of my favorite hymns. Two weeks into taking lessons i decided i was going to be baptized and i was baptized aug. 1, 2009, i have absolutly no regrets. i love the church i know with all my heart it is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

by listening to the prompting of the holy ghost i have stayed on a rightous path and away from the influences that destroy faith and i have been vefry stregthened in my testimony by doing these things the holy ghost tells me to do. if i feel as though i shouldn't do something i know it is the holy ghost saying don't do it, it's a bad idea. if not for listening to the spirit i would not be a member of the church and i wouldn't be where i am today.

How I live my faith

I try to use the influence i have in my ward to incourage the sisters as well as the brethren to attend church on sundays as well as any activities that we may be having. I love participating in service projects and anything charitable when i can.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Our tithing does not go to pay for our church leaders salaries, unlike many other churches our leaders are called of God and volunteer their time and energy to the church they have careers outside of the church. Our tithing helps to pay for church buildings, temples and missions, as well as preparing church matierial such as the book of mormon and the gosple principle books used in our sunday school classes.

Tithing is paid in faith. I know these funds will not be misused. I pay tithing because it is a commandment, and because I love God and want to give Him back a small porion of what He has given me, to futher build up His church. These funds go to build and maintain church buildings and temples and other like expenses. Our clergy is not paid. There is no collection plate. We simply pay our tithing, our fast offerings, we share what we have gladly. This is God's way. For this is God's church.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

If baptism is the gateway to Heaven, then the baptizer is a border agent. Would you want any old person who claims to know how it's done to just start letting whoever wants to into your country? Why do you insist they carry a badge and wear a uniform, and have an ID which proves they are legitimate representatives of the government? It's the same way with God's rituals. All over the scriptures, whenever there's a ritual performed it was performed by a duly authorized representative. Doesn't it just make sense that if something essential for our salvation would be required, that it should need to be done God's way, by God's authorized representatives? Acts 19:1-6 even shows a time when the authority of the baptizer was in doubt, and Paul re-did the baptisms for good measure. With all the confusion that comes from competing people claiming to speak for God, or claiming to know His will in this matter or that, I'm glad Mormons teach about authority. There's so much more clarity about who we should listen to, and who might be perfectly well-intentioned, but who really shouldn't be listened to because they're not authorized.
