I am a retired Computer programmer. Graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Business Management. Married wife is Anita we have a son and three daughters, ninteen grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Have worked with Boy Scouts of America for 45 years, Served in the Air Force 1961 thru 1965 Do volunteer work at the VA Hostipal.

Why I am a Mormon

When Anita and I were planning on being married, she told me she would attend her church (she was not allowed to attend during her previous marrage) she suggested that i learn a little about her church so as to know what she believed. Took the lessons and was surprised to filnd that this church taught doctrines that i always believed but had not found a church that believed these doctrines. Have been a member for 44 years and what a way of life. Great oppoirtunities to serve others and lead a meaningful and happy life.

How I live my faith

Have opportunity to be a hometeacher and love to meet other families and help them when they need help. have the opportunity of going in to various hospitals to help others Love to go into the VA hosptal s and help out the vets that have protected the freedoms we enjoy There are some very lonely veterons that would love for people to visit them. Strive to be friends of those I meet, Find Family History to be very interesting and exciting.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

My father is gay and I have many friends who are gay. Though we have some differing opinions and beliefs, we have a great relationship - each respecting the other's right to choose their own way. Its no secret that the Church does not support gay marriage. We believe that God's plan for the family is, always has been and always will be a man and a woman and their children. However, the perception that the church is anti-gay is inaccurate. We support the rights of all men and woman to exercise their free agency and be entitled to the same legal rights as anyone, as long as they don't erode the principles on which our country was founded - freedom of religion. The scriptures affirm that homosexual behaviors are a sin, but I believe Christ understands the extreme difficulty that a gay person would experience refusing to act upon their same-sex attraction. I also believe that through Him, all things are possible and that no person is unworthy or undeserving of His love and the benefits of His atonement.

This is one of the hardest subjects because in today's world the only accepted dialog is love or hate. We firmly decree that homosexual behavior is sinful. This does not speak to the individual, who they are or the feelings they have. Each of us face feelings and desires, some of which are contrary to the will of the Lord. This is one of them.

Our Heavenly Father does not judge us on these feelings, but how we act on them. If feelings are converted to behavior, then sin has been committed.

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution, one that God has intended to be shared between man and woman. We do not believe it is for us to redefine it, and as such would not support a change that would legitimize behavior believed to be sinful.

We love all of God's children. I have several friends who identify themselves as homosexuals. I consider them friends even though my beliefs hurt and frustrate them. I try to help them understand that I can love them and care about them while maintaining these beliefs. Likewise, I would always defend them against discrimination and bullying.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our fundamental religious service is what we call our Sacrament meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us in Sacrament meeting as well as our other Sunday meetings at any of our buildings. Sacrament is a time when we ponder and reflect on Jesus Christ's atonement for our sins, for He is the path by which we can repent of our wrongdoings and begin anew on a correct path with additional guidance from our Heavenly Father. Furthermore, on Sunday we have general Sunday School meetings where we talk more in-depth about the various doctrine of the gospel as well as meetings where we meet in groups of similarly-aged individuals to learn and discuss gospel topics more focused to each particular age group. We welcome anybody and everybody and would love to see you in our congregation spiritually connecting with your loving Heavenly Father and drawing nearer to him and his son, Jesus Christ.
