About Me

I married my high school sweetheart. We have been blessed with six daughters and two sons and twelve grandchildren. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity over forty years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of seventeen I had questions. Why am I here? Where am I going? What am I doing with my life? Does God answer our prayers? Why are we baptized? Why are there so many churches? Does God have a plan for me?
I studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I went to different churches and finally I prayed to my Father in Heaven.
I received a witness that He loves me. That there is an eternal plan. That families can be together forever. That the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

I know from my prayers being answered that I am a son of God. That He knows me and loves me and will lead and guide me. I know that God lives.

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

We have family home evening, a night set aside for our family to spend time together. We have fun, treats, a short lesson, and a great time.

How I live my faith

I strive to be the best I can be everyday, and in doing so, to make richer the lives of those around me. To be a happy healthy person and live my life with the utmost integrity, honor, and passion.
I am trying to follow the example of the Savior. To treat other people the way I would want to be treated.
I strive to be a good husband and father and to realize the importance of these roles.
I strive to study the scriptures and learn the holy truths that I might incorporate them in my daily life.
I try to be fully engaged and live life according to God's eternal plan. I enjoy helping people and making a positive contribution.
I love serving in the Church. It brings me closer to my brothers and sisters. I really feel our Church is like a big family.

We believe that families can be together forever.

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Family is everything to us. Our family spends lots of our free time together because we like each other. Life gets crazy with teenagers, dance practice, after school academic decathlon, usually with a toddler in tow, but no matter what, every Monday night is Family Night.

The kids know that every Monday we spend time together and nothing gets in the way of it. It's our commitment to each other. We bake cookies, have lessons about the Savior, work on personal goals, go to the park, go geocaching, play board games or just go out for ice cream.

We do lots of things together. The point is that at least once a week we spend an hour or two together, just for the sake of being together, just because we love being together as a family. It's not as perfect as it may sound, with all the poking and "she's in my spot," and all the other crazy things family members do to each other when scrambling for a spot in the living room, but we try real hard. It takes effort to make sure we don't miss, but it's worth it.

I'm not sure the kids will remember all the games we played, the places we went or what we did, but I hope they always remember that we loved each other enough to dedicate one night a week to be with each other. And that we spent every Monday night together for as many Mondays as they can remember because family is everything to us, and every member of our family is important.
