Diane: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Diane

I grew up on a farm, but have lived in Mexico, Chile and Argentina. I love being a wife and mother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm, and had a wonderful childhood. After graduating from college, I was married and we had the opportunity to move to Mexico, Chile and Argentina. We had a fabulous experience and loved getting to know the areas where we lived, and especially meeting so many exceptional people that have blessed our lives. I have a wonderful husband and five children who are the joy of my life. I have delighted watching them grow and enjoy their involvement in a variety of activities. I am so grateful to be a part of the most amazing experience in the world to have a hand in the development of human lives. I am grateful beyond words for each of them and their individual talents, personalities and character. My happiest times are when we are all together. I love to travel, read, and quilt. I love to spend time with our extended families and friends. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have had to meet and associate with wonderful people who have taught me so much and blessed me beyond measure.

Why I am a Mormon

I have wonderful parents who taught me about Jesus Christ. At a young age I felt close to Him and felt happy to learn and think about Him. I learned about God and that he loves and blesses us. As faithful members of the Mormon church we attended meetings each week where we studied the scriptures and learned about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt a wonderful spirit at these meetings and wanted to participate and learn more. As a teenager I felt a great desire to know for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormon church) was true. I read the Book of Mormon which is another book, like the Bible, which testifies of Jesus Christ. While reading the book, I came to know Christ better, and had an overwhelming feeling that the book, and the church were indeed true. Since then I have read the Book of Mormon many times and always have that same feeling. I love reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible as they help me understand God's love and the great blessings He has given us through Jesus Christ. I also know that we have a prophet that lives today. I know that Thomas S. Monson is that prophet and that he receives revelation from God to guide and direct His church. I have been in the presence of President Monson and have felt a confirming spirit that He is truly the Lord's prophet on the earth today. I know that as a young man, Joseph Smith prayed to know which church was true and received guidance and direction which was instrumental in bringing about the restoration of God's true church to the earth. I am grateful for the teachings of the gospel that help us understand that as we live the commandments of God we can find peace and happiness in a world full of turmoil and problems. I am blessed beyond measure to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know it is true.

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

We can develop greater harmony in our homes by thinking of others and how we can help and serve them. We can support each other by attending activities in which they participate such as sporting events, or involvement with music. We can help each other when there are times that personal responsibilites are overwhelming or stressful. The golden rule 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you', should apply to families as well as friends and associates. Family activities where we can all be together having a good time help to foster friendship and fond memories that will bring families closer together. Communication is also a key. The ability to communicate without argueing or pointing out each others faults is essential to harmony. As the family talks together to resolve problems we can better understand each person's feelings and why they act the way they do. Religious study also helps keep harmony. As we study scripture and talk about the blessings of Jesus Christ in our lives, we feel closer to each other. One of the best ways to keep harmony is to pray together. As we express gratitude for each other and pray for specific needs of each member of our family, we become united in wanting each to be happy and successful.

How I live my faith

I am grateful to be a member of a church which gives us many opportunites to serve. It has been a great blessing to have lived in other countries where I have seen this service bless the lives of many. Service in the community is important to me. As we lived in different countries our children attended international schools where I loved being involved in the Parent organizations. I enjoyed getting to know people from many cultures and varied backgrounds as we all served together to better the school experience for our children. In our church I have been able to serve children by teaching lessons, music, and enjoying activities together. I have also had the opportunity to serve in the women's organization through visiting and caring for individual sisters and participating in meetings where we learn about the gospel. Now I am serving the young women ages 12-18 by teaching and guiding them to understand God's blessings for them. It is an incredible experience to see the goodness and strength of these young women. In a world which sends mixed messages about who they are and what they should do they are grounded in knowing that they are daughters of God and that He loves them. They see the example of Jesus Christ as a direction in their lives. They learn to set goals and develop talents which will help them in their future. Through the experiences of interacting with wonderful people and serving others in the church and community, my life has been greatly enriched.
