Diane: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Diane

I grew up in Palo Alto, California. For the past twenty years we have lived in Auburn, Washington. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college with degrees in Family and Consumer Science. I teach high school classes of culinary arts, child development, and health. Teaching is rewarding but it is challenging and too time consuming.

I enjoy cooking, sewing, hiking and being a mother and grandmother. My husband and I have been married 30 years. We have four daughters, two son-in-laws, and two grandsons. Our married daughters live out of state, so we relish our visits to their families.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the youngest of seven children. Although my parents and sibilings are members of the Mormon Church, I made my own decisions. When I was baptized at 8-years-old, I was so happy I felt like I could fly. I had never felt such peace and joy. I remember telling my father that evening that I couldn't see how anyone would want to sin. I truly felt a change of heart and wanted to keep the commandments.

As I grew older, I had some dramatic answers to prayers. I knew the Lord loved me and was guiding me. It helped me make good choices.

I am so thankful to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. In such a turbulent world, I continue to depend on the peace and guidance I receive through personal prayer, scripture study and temple attendance. I have received many witnesses of the truthfulness of the First Vision, the Book of Mormon and the life and mission of our Savior. I feel at peace and strengthened through all my challenges.

How I live my faith

In our ward, I serve as the Music Chairman. I choose the songs to sing in Sacrament Meeting and conduct the music. I am not real musically inclined, but the Lord has helped me learn how to conduct. Also, I help serve as a church librarian on Sundays. I help teachers by getting appropriate pictures, DVDs, copies and other teaching materials.

Another way I help is by visiting four ladies in our ward (or congregation) at least monthly. I try to be their friend and provide support in any way that I can. It is amazing how important it is to develop strong friendships.
