I grew up in New Jersey. I'm in college studying to make neuro-prosthetics. I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I want to double major in Biology and Physics, and go to graduate school for Biomedical Engineering. I love math, especially Calculus, and I love all things scientific! I also enjoy languages, and studied Japanese for 4 years in High School I spend most of my TV time watching Japanese TV sometimes translated into English, otherwise subtitled. I also enjoy cooking, and know how to do laundry, clean, sew, and install curtain rods.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into and went to a Roman Catholic Church from the time I was born until I was about 10. At that point my family moved to Europe, to a country where the churches were mostly Protestant, or in any language but English. I lost contact with my faith. Even after moving back to the US I did not rebuilt my faith or started going to church, but I always believed in the Bible, always. Then when I was in High School a Mormon girl fell head over heels for me. She invited me over and her family ambushed me with a visit from the Missionaries. I became interested in the LDS Church, and met again and again with the missionaries. I found the Lord again, and I started to find happiness in my faith. I got baptized, and know that what I did was right. I know that the Church is true, that the Prophets from Joseph Smith to Thomas Monson have been called of God to do his work. I know that the Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenant, and The Pearl of Great Price are True and of the Lord. I know that Jesus is The Christ, and that through him we can return to live with Heavenly Father again. I know that through the Holy Ghost we can know all things, and that we can know the Lord's plan for us. I know that this Church is true, has the fulness of the Gospel, and is the path to the highest level of Heaven. I testify of these things to the world, and do so in His name, the name of the Only Begotten Son, the Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith. I try my best to fulfill the duties in my ward that I have. I do my visiting teaching. I go church as often as I can. I read my scriptures. And most importantly, I never let my Faith dwindle in uncertainty and I stand by my Testimony, Always.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

One night I was on the front row of a concert. A big star came to the edge of the stage and held out his hand. EVERYONE rushed forward, climbing over each other, pushing and wedging themselves along, just to touch him. I almost got caught up in that too, and was about to rush ahead when a little voice kicked in "He's just a man. What's the big deal?" At that moment I vowed to never adulate anything less than deity. I will not go to my knees for anyone but a Loving God.

I respect Joseph Smith like I respect any man who tries his best to live according to his conscience. I hope maybe one day I'll get to chat with him over lunch--or over whatever kind of meal they offer in the life beyond. But I cannot worship a man, for why should I place and value one person any higher than another?

Saying that Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) may cause a misunderstanding for some. LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed in Old Testament and New Testament times. The "of Latter-day Saints" in the church's name denotes that this is the last dispensation before Jesus Christ's Second Coming, or the last period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the keys of the holy priesthood. The Old Testament and New Testament discuss various dispensations when Christ's church existed on the earth in its authentic state.

So, what is the importance of Joseph Smith in relation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He was simply a man called to speak for the Lord and played a key role in the restoration of Christ's church here upon the earth in these latter-days. Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we do not worship Joseph Smith, but study his life and teachings to better understand the will of God. Joseph Smith may had been a leader, but he was not and is not the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The head of the church is clearly stated in the church's name. Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

YES!!! This is one of my favorite parts of the gospel. I believe that my family will live together in heaven. I will know my family as my family members. My husband is my husband for now and for all eternity. My children are my children here on earth and for all eternity. I know that if something happened to one of us that I will see them again. I love this about the church. Before joining, I always had a question about this concept and when taking the discussions from the missionaries this came up. Makes me love the church more and more.
