I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife for almost twenty years now and mother of five (two teenagers and three adults). I am very active and have a lot of different intersts. I enjoy running and other sports, animals, gardening and art. I have been an RN for about twenty years now working off and on in different settings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a "convert" to the church. I became a member when I was thirty years old. Growing up, I did not go to church or have a regilious affiliation. I did have a little exposure to the Mormon church because my grandparents were members. Even though I did not attend a church, I did have a belief in a higher being and I knew this higher being was kind, loving and only wanted the best for me. I did feel that there was something missing from my life growing up and off and on I would try to learn about religion but nothing really stuck. It was after I had children that I had a strong desire to raise my children with some sort of religion. I wanted this for my children - something that I missed growing up. I did not think my husband would be interested and so I was ready to take this on by myself. I was pleasantly surprise when he wanted to go as a family. The only church he was confortable attending was the Mormon church (he had been a member and had been inactive). We started going and as I continued to go and learn, I felt a strong feeling that this was right. Things made sense and things felt right. I know know that this was the spirit telling me that this was the right direction to go for myself and my family. I have been a member now for thirteen years and my understanding of the gospel grows every day. I have learned a lot over these past thirteen years and will continue to learn throughout my entire life. The gospel truely guides me and my family in the right direction. I love being a member of this church.

How I live my faith

In my church I teach a Sunday school class for 12-13 year olds. I love this role because the kids teach me so much and it puts me in a position to really study to Bible, Book of Mormon and history of the church. This age is wonderful to work with and they have tons of energy!!

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No.

The Church has not practiced polygamy since 1890. Any member found to be practicing plural marriage is excommunicated from the Church. We are not affiliated with any group currently practicing polygamy.

Absolutely not!! This is one of the many myths about Mormon's that hollywood and the media continue to propogate. It is true that the early memebrs of the church did practice polygamy, but the church oficcialy denounced the practice 150 years ago!! If any church member today practices polygamy they are excommunicated. There are people who leave the LDS church and start their own religion base loosely on LDS beliefs. Some of them practice polygamy. They are NOT memebrs of the LDS (Mormon) chruch, nor do they have any affiliation with the LDS church.

Are Mormons Christians?

In the truest sense of the word, most certainly yes!
The main belief of the mormon church is that of Christ and His Atonement for mankind. We believe that anybody who wants to can be saved through Christ's Sacrifice for us.
Without Christ, our church would be meaningless, void, and pointless. He is the core of this church. In fact, He is the leader and head of this church.
Some people say we don't believe in Christ, but I wholeheartedly disagree; Christ is everything to us - He rescues us from sin and fear, He is the reason for our being.
We celebrate and rejoice in His life and works and know that He lives today! Christ is risen and is ready to help us in our lives.
