Pat: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Pat

Every day when I wake up I say..."Yeah....Yeah....It's another day! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of seven children. (therefore, nothing scares me!) I have a bachelor of science degree from Brigham Young University. I grew up as the middle child in a family of all girls except one boy! I love to take pictures and then scrapbook them. I especially love taking pictures of my family and preserving them. I have kept a journal most of my life and I love to go back and read from them. (I have many volumes). I love to KNIT, and SEW. I like to crochet a little but I prefer to knit. I love to quilt also. I love to sew Barbie doll clothes and I love to play Barbies with my grandchildren. I love to travel and see new places. I have been to Egypt, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and The Bahama's. I have traveled across the United States and have visited most every state. I also love to READ. I owned a bookstore for 15 years and I am now retired from that. I am learning to garden. I love to have pretty flowers in my yard. I enjoy being outside in the early morning and going for a walk to enjoy this beautiful world.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be member of the Church of Jesus Christ because I have read the Book of Mormon many many times and I have prayed and received an answer that it is a TRUE book of scripture. I have put this church and its teachings to the test and I have not found anything else to even hold a candle to the witness I have received that it is the same gospel that Jesus Christ taught when he walked on the earth. It is also the same gospel taught by the apostle Paul. It is the same gospel that Abraham was guided to participate in. (And all the prophets in the Old and New Testament). I know that Joseph Smith was the man the Lord chose to restore HIS gospel back to the earth after it had been distorted and changed thru over 500 years of time from when Christ taught it. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us that ever live on the earth and the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints has ALL the keys and answers to that PLAN. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that HE is guiding and directing the affairs of this church. He wants me to be happy and by living the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (which are HIS teachings) I am happy! I know HE atoned for my sins and your sins and everyone sins. I want HIM to know that I appreciate HIM by obeying HIM.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

I was baptised when I was eight years old. I can remember going to our Stake Center (the building that housed the baptisimal font) with my mom and dad only. There were others my age who were there and a woman stood up and told us a story with pictures about how we lived in heaven with heavenly father before we came to this earth. She explained that it was necessary for us to come to earth and receive a body. The story had pictures and I remember sitting there listening and a wonderful feeling came over me and I KNEW that this woman was telling me the truth. She was presenting the plan of salvation to me. I KNEW that she was speaking the truth. She talked about making right choices and doing things that would please our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I remember thinking that day that I ALWAYS wanted to obey Jesus Christ . Even tho it was a long time ago I can still remember how I felt inside that day. I KNEW I was making a correct decision.

How I live my faith

I love to be involved in the community and church that I live in. I find it very important to read from scripture DAILY and to PRAY daily to keep connected to my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I want them to know that I love them and that I am willing to stay in touch with them thru prayer to show my appreciation and love for THEM and to receive guidance and direction from THEM.
Another way I show my appreciation and love for THEM is to serve others. I currently teach and plan activities for the young girls (ages 12-18) in the church. I find it very fulfilling to serve others. I think the reason it is fulfilling is because of the scripture in Mosiah 2;17 which says "that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." It's important for me to be serving others because I want to be serving God and letting HIM know thru my actions that I appreciate HIM.
In the past I have served in other age groups such as the women of the church and also the young children of the church. It doesn't matter to me where I serve or what I am doing because all of it is for THE LORD.
