I'm a wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I'm currently working to put my husband through law school. I love sleeping, cooking, blogging, watching my favorite TV shows, and spending time with my husband. I'm an aspiring photographer and love finding beauty in all that I see in the world. My husband and I struggle with infertility, but have found peace in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ask me how.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so much joy to my life. When I was a young teenager my brother died of a drug overdose and my parents were divorced within a few months. It was one of the most trying times in my life, but I found peace and through prayer I was able to develop a deeply personal relationship with our Father in Heaven. He still continues to guide me through my trials and helps me to see his goodness, daily, through his tender mercies. My husband and I have been dealing with infertility for 2 1/2 years, but have found the peace needed to endure through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My husband and I enjoy serving others and sharing the gospel. And we always look for opportunities to do so. I work daily to improve my relationship with Heavenly Father through scripture study and prayer.

What is the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Love the sinner, not the sin. We do not uplift or support it in any way. We try to help those overcome this serious and difficult urge of same-gender attraction. To some it is very serious, they feel they are 'borne' that way. Others feel great peer pressure, some are simply curious. Not matter the case, it is simply wrong. It is not ordained of God, and God does not take it lightly. To those who may struggle with this very urge, as you avoid it, and try to overcome it, God will strengthen you. Some people struggle with an addiction toward pornography, or cigarettes, some it might a seemingly over-powering urge toward alcohol, or to some, same-gender attraction. No matter the urge, they are all not of God and all Satan's devices to bring down worthy and righteous souls down to his level of misery. The family is ordained of God and it is our responsibility to uplift and support the family in any way we can.

We read in Genesis that one of God's first commandments to Adam and Eve was to "multiply and replenish the Earth." We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God, and the only appropriate means of multiplying and replenishing the Earth. Keeping this in mind, any sexual act that takes place that is not between a man and a woman, joined together in marriage, is forbidden.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

I identify with Fyodor Dostoevsky, who once wrote: "It is not as a child that I believe and confess Jesus Christ. My hosanna is born of a furnace of doubt." I respect people who find it difficult or impossible to believe, because of the incongruity of so much unjustifiable hurt and pain in the world or because the affirmative evidence for God's existence does not seem compelling. But yet I believe. I believe in a God who is powerful, knowledgeable, loving and good. I see God in the heavens and earth. I see God in the principles of physics, evolution and natural selection, psychology, engineering, mathematics, the arts and the humanities, among others. I see God in the multitude of faith (or nonfaith) traditions throughout the world and among all peoples, giving meaning, purpose and direction to God's children and creations. Yes, there is much inexplicable hurt, pain and injury in the world, and yes, God's respect for our free will and freedom to believe requires that the evidence for God be noncompelling. I do not pretend to know easy answers; I look forward one day to receiving explanations or understanding of those tough questions. In the meantime, I am grateful for the whisperings from God's spirit and for occasional experiences that, to me, seem like "postcards from God", confirming to me God's love and care for me and for all creation. I have never seen God personally, but I have experienced God and I have met God's children and seen God's creations.
