I'm a husband, and my wife Susan and I have 3 children. I enjoy spending time with my wife and family. I enjoy writing about politics and political philosophy and the benefits of Judeo-Christian influence on our country.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have not been able to find another church that truly restored the biblical church of Christ, from revelation through prophets and apostles, to a lay clergy, to the priesthood power present in ordinances such as baptism, and the bestowal of the gift of the Holy Ghost.
I'm a member because I have received personal revelation that His church has been restored upon the face of the earth, just as it was after other times of apostasy such as when Noah brought it back...and was laughed at; then restored again through Abraham...and he had to leave the place of his birth; and then again through Moses after the Egyptian captivity.

How I live my faith

I endeavor every day to have the "mind of Christ" and the Apostle Paul taught, and treat others as the Savior would if he were here.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Sure I do. People have been deceived into believing that there are no prophets throughout biblical history. The first thing the adversary does when there is a prophet on the earth is to try to convince you that there are no such things or that the time has passed.

Think about it...when Noah preached to the people and prophesied that the flood was coming, they laughed at him. Even amongst the Jews, they disregarded and/or imprisoned Isaiah and Jeremiah because they prophesied that Israel would be carried away captive into Babylon.

I believe that the thing that one must overcome in order to believe that there are prophets alive today is get over the mindset that tells you that prophets have to be splitting the Red Sea or calling down fire from heaven in order to be considered as such. For every great miracle wrought by a biblical prophet there are many more who simply preached about the coming Messiah. Think of the prophets like Joel, Amos, Hosea and Habbakuk. These were prophets sent by God, but they were "boring" because they weren't performing miracles or commanding armies. The people disregarded their counsels at their spiritual peril.

Let us not repeat their error by not believing that prophets can't exist today. Let's instead get on our knees and receive our own personal revelation about the ones here amongst us.

Yes! (You might want to sit down for this great news!) I love reading the stories of prophets in the Old Testament. The prophets spoke to the people of that time about the things they most needed to hear. I'm so grateful that just like in biblical times, we have a prophet for us now!

Our prophet truly is a man called by God to help us. I know this is true every time I read his insights and guidance for us in these times. With a living prophet to guide us, we know what to focus on in our personal and family life.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. I've never even met the man.

One night I was on the front row of a concert. A big star came to the edge of the stage and held out his hand. EVERYONE rushed forward, climbing over each other, pushing and wedging themselves along, just to touch him. I almost got caught up in that too, and was about to rush ahead when a little voice kicked in "He's just a man. What's the big deal?" At that moment I vowed to never adulate anything less than deity. I will not go to my knees for anyone but a Loving God.

I respect Joseph Smith like I respect any man who tries his best to live according to his conscience. I hope maybe one day I'll get to chat with him over lunch--or over whatever kind of meal they offer in the life beyond. But I cannot worship a man, for why should I place and value one person any higher than another?
