I love being with my family and friends. I love reading, dancing, singing, and music. I write songs and poetry. I am a certified lifeguard. Scubadiving is fun. I love traveling. I grew up in Texas and have lived in New York, Idaho, and presently in Washington. I am going to major in nutrition and specialize in Celiac disease with a minor in the culinary arts. I have Celiac disease and I want to use my struggles that I have had with it to help others. I am also lactose intolerent and am allergic to corn. I have to be creative when I cook but i love cooking and creating healthy and satisfying dishes. I want to help people and create tasty things for them to eat. Oh! I also love the beaches of the coast of Texas, it is my family's favorite vacation spot.
I heard about the church as a teenager and the things I heard were lies that made me afraid of it, even hate it. I went to New York when I was 22 to nanny. I met a LDS girl from Idaho, there. We became friends and she said that I shoulg go check out Idaho some day. So I did... I got a job lifeguarding there and saved up for an apartment. Her family was kind enough to let me stay with them until i got my aprtment. The friends I made in Idaho were amazing and they became family. They were LDS and they didn't judge me for the bad choices I was making. They were there for me. I had never had friends like them before. After year and a half of living there I decided that I wanted to be a good person and I wanted to be happy. A month later after I made that decision and started trying to change my life, I was talking to a friend about God. I was agnostic at the time and I told him even if God did exist, he could never forgive me for the mistakes I made. With tears streaming down my face, I went to the bathroom to get myself together. When I was done, when I came out, he gently said "Please come and meet the (LDS) missionaries." I saw so much concearn in his eyes and knew he wanted me to meet them because he cared about me not to enlist a new member in to his church. I went and talked with them. The things they taught me made sense and gave me peace. I prayed a lot to know if God was really there, if He really loved me, and what He would have me do? I spent a lot of time in the scriptures and praying. My friends supported me and helped me so much. I came to know that Heavenly Father was there and that He does love me. I asked Him if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was His church. He confirmed it with feelings of peace and hope. This is His true church, The Book of Mormon is true, and my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ love me. They love you too.
I read my scriptures and pray every day. I have come to know Heavenly Father loves us so so much and likes hearing from us every day. And that these things bless me and give me peace. After joinining the church, I came to love people so much more. I want to know them, i want to help them, and I want to love them. I want to be involved in their lives. I am thankful for them. I use to avoid them but now they are my favorite part of life. People make me happy. My family has noticed that I am much happier. Recently my mom wrote me in an e-mail that she was proud of me and to see her child happy was the greatest gift she could have ever gotten from God. Living the standards of the church and loving people and relying on Jesus Christ is how I live my faith.
