Hi, I'm Kelly
I grew up a Military "Brat" living in many places. I'm a P/T photographer and see beauty and art in everything. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
At 49, I had been a single mom for nearly seventeen years before I married my childhood sweetheart. With the blessings of my daughters, I left my family, friends and a career in Texas to move to Colorado to become his wife and stepmom to his four children. What a challenge! I love photography and see picture-making opportunties wherever I am. I hope one day that I can use my photography to make a difference in other people's lives.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up as a Catholic and while I loved the beauty of the rituals and ceremonies of the religion, as an adult, I did not find a spiritual satisfaction. I began a spiritual quest when I was in my early 40's, but I didn't know exactly what I was looking for. I enjoyed attending other churches, but still could not find a "home".
I married my childhood sweetheart just before my 50th birthday and when we were married just over two months he mentioned that his missed his church and would like to go back some time. I knew he was LDS but I had virtually no knowledge of the religion. Because I was still searching, I said I would be happy if we could go to his church sometime so I could learn more about it. Immediately I was drawn to the members and how family-oriented the church was. My husband was happy to be back at church and we began receiving visits from the Missionaries. I began to learn more, and as I did, my excitement grew because I had finally found a church that was speaking truth to my heart. I had found my spiritual home!
I was baptised three months later on Saturday, April 23, 2011. It was very special to me as this was Easter weekend. I was confirmed on Easter Sunday and I will never forget how it felt as the Priesthood layed their hands on my head and prayed over me as I received the gift of the Holy Spirit. I felt a cool shimmery sensation from my head to my toes as they blessed me. I was filled to overflowing with emotion. That will always be a Top Ten day in my life's experiences! I look forward to the day that I can be married to my sweetheart in the Temple and to be sealed to him for eternity.
Personal Stories
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
I pray every day. My prayers are different depending on the day. I pray for my loved ones, I pray for strangers, I pray for the Missionaries that serve our community and spread God's Word. I pray everyday giving thanks for the many blessings the Heavenly Father bestows on us, and for the ones I know He specifically blesses me with. I know prayer can heal the sick, can uplift the downspirited and give strength, courage and hope to anyone in a difficult situation. Prayer is one of the strongest tools we have.
How I live my faith
I pray daily to the Heavenly Father that I might hear his message and follow with courage and faith the path HE has chosen for me. I enjoy my calling as an Activity Day counselor for the young girls ages 8-11. Their energy and budding knowledge of the Bible and the Book of Mormon humble me and give me inspiration every time we meet. I am thankful for the many blessings I enjoy by God's tender mercies and try to share them as often as I can with others.
