Hi, I'm Charlene
I'm a convert to the church, a mother of 6, stay at home mom, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a mother of 6 and have been married for 23 years. I am a convert to the church. I met my husband who was in-active at the time but he still had a testimony that the church was true. We married and 4 years later I joined the church and he became active again. It took 9 years for us to get to the temple but we finally made it there! I am a stay at home mom who likes to read, exercise, and enjoy my family.
Why I am a Mormon
After many discussions with the missionaries, I couldn't deny that I thought the Book of Mormon was true. I had a strong feeling that it was. It made sense that Jesus Christ would have his church upon the earth and that he would still lead it through revelation to his prophet. He has always worked with his prophets, why would he stop now? The questions to where we came from, why are we here, and what am I supposed to do now, made sense. I never knew before. We didn't just get to the earth out of nowhere or nothing. We came here with a purpose and a plan. Although, I don't have ALL the answers still, I know that I have some pretty important ones that help me know where I came from and where I want to go. Also, the gospel plan helps me to live a better life free of additions and sins. Of course I still sin, but I avoid a lot of them by living the gospel or trying to everyday.
Personal Stories
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is one of the most important things we could do, I think. I also don't think we realize just how powerful it really is. We have a direct line to our Heavenly Father. It's called prayer. He is never to busy to listen, he never drops the call, and his number never changes.
Sometimes all we have to do is to ASK through prayer and our Heavenly Father is just waiting to give us what we need. Through prayer we become humble because we admit that we need help or can't do it alone. When I give a sincere prayer I know that I am heard and my Heavenly Father will always do what is best for me. I believe in prayer. I know that it works. Try it, you'll know too.
How I live my faith
I am active in my church. I try to live my religion every day not just on Sunday. I am the president of the Primary which is the children's group for Sunday School, lessons, and singing. Along with other leaders and teachers we help children ages 18 months through 11 years old to learn about their Savior Jesus Christ, about their Heavenly Father, the Holy Ghost, and how to love and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to help them to know that following God's plan is always the best plan. He knows better than we do.
I also teach my own children that living the gospel will bring true happiness. If they try to look for happiness in ways that are against gospel principles it will only bring regret and unhappiness.
Our family is united in living the gospel together. We all make mistakes but we try to build each other up and help each other make good decisions and stay strong.
