Hi, I'm Weldon
I love soccer. I work with and write about Apple technology. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I spend a lot of time working with computers, but I love the outdoors. Soccer, sailing, ultimate frisbee, and camping are some of my favorite things to do. My wife and I have 5 children and they take up a lot of our time, but we enjoy doing things together.
Why I am a Mormon
I'm a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the Savior of the world. Because my family is so important to me, I love the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints about how families can be together forever.
Personal Stories
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
I served a two year mission in Russia almost 20 years ago. All of the greatest blessings in my life have come from that decision to serve the Lord - my success in college and my career, my marriage, my children.
Not only did I learn to be responsible and accountable at a young age, living in a foreign country with adult leaders several hours away by train, but I learned to feel and recognize the influence of the Spirit in all that I did. I focused so much effort in trying to do what the Lord wanted me to do during that time, that I gained a much better understanding of how to involve the Lord in the rest of my life. That lesson of learning to listen to the Spirit has been so helpful as I returned home to finish college, finding a good woman to start a family with, and in the challenges of working and raising our children. I am so grateful for the chance that I had to spend two years volunteering as a missionary to teach people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How I live my faith
I try to live my faith by doing the things that Jesus Christ taught and by following his example. Sometimes I succeed more in certain aspects than in others. Right now, I volunteer by taking care of a lot of administrative work in the church. I also visit three families in our town to share a brief lesson about the Savior and His teachings. I bring my oldest son along with me on these visits and I am so encouraged as I watch him learn to share his thoughts and feelings about the Gospel with others.
