Hi, I'm Jared
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I have three loves; music, physical fitness, and teaching. I'm completing my general education requirements in college and hope to become an elementary or junior high P.E. teacher and coach. I'm all about having a good time and love listening to music, singing, dancing, playing the guitar, going to concerts, going to the gym, playing sports with my friends, and working at my local school. I've taught guitar lessons from my home, drawing at an art studio, and summer camps. Being a a big kid myself, nothing beats working with kids as a job!
Why I am a Mormon
I was born a member of the church and was mostly active attending my meetings, saying my prayers, and doing all the other things that members are supposed to. When I was 12 years old, life started coming at me fast and I had to deal with a lot of things most 12 year old kids didn't have to. Not knowing what else to do, I turned to Jesus Christ who I had learned about my life. This time, it wasn't enough to just know about Him, I needed to know Him.
I began to know my Savior and see his influence in my life. By the time i was 14, this change caused me to want to really find out for myself if this church was Christ's church and if everything I had been taught my whole life was true. I began really studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible, praying sincerely to the Lord for answers, asking myself and the Lord the tough questions, and testing out the promises of scriptures and of the living prophet. There was no single converting experience but after consistently seeking truth I found it.
I continued to find it every day as I saw the difference the gospel made in my life and began noticing the changes it wrought in me. I was becoming happier, stronger, healthier, smarter, and more able to do everything I needed. Whereas so many of my high school peers seemed lost, experimenting, confused, upset, or stagnant, I was sure, knowledgeable, joyful, and always progressing and improving.
This gospel is hard for sure, but I know its right and its helped me find me more than I ever could have on my own.
How I live my faith
More than anything, I have learned that to serve, worship, and love Jesus Christ, I must serve and love his children. In high school I was in the National Honors Society and enjoyed performing service projects with my peers. I am active in politics and always vote and encourage the community to as well. I live my faith in the way I treat others at work, school, or in line at the grocery store. I enjoy doing service projects with the members of my church. I also enjoy teaching the youth in Sunday school. I love the community feeling of being a part of the church and love spending time visiting with and helping fellow church members.
