I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in Sunny Arizona...

About Me

My name is Kim... I was raised half Mormon, or so my dad says... He is not a member. My mom was baptised as a young girl, and has always been active. I have enjoyed watching my dad progress even though he is not a member. He supported my brother on a mission, and watched all of his three children enter the temple to get married while he waited outside. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints means the world to me!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Heavenly Father... He loves me very much... Even though I have not always deserved it! Everything I have, Everything I do, is because of Him!!! I pray I will always be an instrument in His hands to serve on this Earth.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have always been active in our community. We wanted to serve where our kids were involved. We worked on the Basha High School Football Booster club for eight years. It was a pleasure to work with people of all different backgrounds. These people are still our friends, and will always be!

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the Women' Group of the Church... We meet on Sunday', and have meetings during the week to help us learn new talents and things that we might want to master, such as cooking, sewing or financial budgeting... Sometimes we meet just to get to know each other better! Those are my favorite meetings!!
I love working with the Sisters of the Relief Society... You learn so much, working with women, and serving the Lord...

To me, Relief Society means friendship. It's an opportunity to know and love and learn from other women from so many different backgrounds and situations and ways of looking at life and yet they are truly my sisters! I can't tell you how many times I have been wrestling with an issue in my own life and there, during the course of our class or other conversation, comes the answer. I know that Heavenly Father so often works through others to answer our prayers, and to me Relief Society is a huge example of that. I'm grateful not only for those who reach out to me, but for the opportunies to reach out to others through Relief Society. It is an inspired program and a wonderful asset to my life!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is the knowledge that a certain principle is true, right, or good. For example, I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He did truly atone for our sins. In order to gain that knowledge, I have studied, reflected on what I learned in my study, and prayed to have that knowledge confirmed in my heart. As an answer to those prayers, (for there were many--building a testimony is an ongoing process) I have felt the truth in my heart.
We can gain testimonies of many principles. Another way is to put that principle into action, as sort of a test. In order to gain a testimony of prayer, we might try praying. To gain a testimony of the principle of tithing, we might try paying a full tithe. (10% of our income.) As we strive to live these principles, the Holy Ghost will confirm the truthfulness of them to our hearts. We will know that they are right; we will have a testimony of them.

Mormons also talk about "bearing testimony." This simply means to share the testimony we have gained with other people, either in a formal setting (like in church) or in a more informal setting (like in a conversation with a friend.)
