About Me

I like basketball, food, and weight loss. It is a vicious cycle. I completely change my appearance every six months, so if you haven't seen me for six months you won't recognize me. I am a father of four children and I am married to my sweetheart. I am an entrepreneur. My work background includes the financial industry, internet start ups, e-commerce stores, and search engine optimization (SEO).

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Catholic. My family moved to AZ when I was five. I met a lot of Mormons. I joined the church in Middle/High school. My testimony started growing. I served a mission in the Michigan, Lansing mission. I know Christ lives. I know his gospel was restored through the prophet, Joseph Smith. I received a witness that the Book of Mormon is true. I also know we have a prophet on the earth today in President Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday School class to the 17-18 year old youth in our congregation. I help teach my children how to follow the Savior.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

The missionaries are one of the greatest resources to find out more information on the church. If you want to know more, ask someone who is a member of the church.

One of the best ways to learn about basic tenants of our religion is by checking resources like this website, chatting with the missionaries, and have them send you some resources (like a Book of Mormon, videos, etc.) and then try finding the closest LDS chapel in your area by looking in the phone book or online. They can have missionaries come to your home and teach you if you wish. Another good way is to go to church with a friend or an acquaintance of yours who is LDS, and they can also connect you with the missionaries. If you don't have any of those resources nearby, chat with the missionaries and they will find a way to have someone connect with you. There's probably more Mormons around than you think.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that baptism is essential for salvation. It is a covenant with God to obey his commandments. Christ taught that we all must be baptized. Some people die without being baptized or knowing about the Church of Jesus Christ. They must also have an opportunity for salvation. Those who have died are taught the gospel in the world of the spirits. But, baptism is an earthly ordinance. So we can perform that ordinance for them by being baptized for them, just as Christ died for us as a proxy for us, we can be baptized for others. This is authorized by Christ in his church to be performed in the temples. The person who died can either receive this gift or reject it. They still have their agency.
