Hi, I'm Roger
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A Convert to the Church, I am A Mormon
About Me
I am a father of six children, I have spent most of my career life in the construction industry where I specialized in the contracting and construction of residential and commercial buildings. I love to fish, hunt, camp, watch movies and most of all spend time with my wife and family. I am also currently attending college were I am looking forward to earning a bachelors degree in business management. I love to meet new people and get to know them. One of my greatest pleasures is making new friends with whom I can share life experiences and create a long lasting and mutually beneficial relationships. I also find it personally satisfying to be able to counsel with people, learn about them as individuals, and have the privilege offering my friendship and help in the case help may be needed.
Why I am a Mormon
I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because all my life as I learned about God I had been left with many questions that no one seemed to be able to answer. I began to talk to a member friend of mine and was inquiring with him about the Mormon religion. As we talked from time to time over a few years I began to be inspired by the sweet and gentle spirit he always had during our conversations. I was impressed by the feeling I received while we talked and I could see by the look in his eyes that he had a pure and true testimony of that which he spoke. As we discussed the teachings of the prophets I always came away with the feeling "this is the real thing" "this is where I belong". We talked about the the purpose of life, the importance of personal salvation and what Heavenly Father has promised us for our eternal life, if we would live according to his teachings. My questions were being answered, one by one, day by day and as I would spend more and more time learning about what the church had to offer, the teachings of the prophets could bring to my life and the promises and covenants God is willing to make with me. I had never to this day felt anything was more right! I am eternally grateful for the loving influence of a real friend who cared enough about me to overcome his fear of straining our friendship, offering what he knew to be the truth and taking the risk that I may turn away from him. Because of this mans courage, love and compassion I have had the privilege of baptism and the opportunity now for eternal life, nothing else could have brought such a tremendous blessings in my life and the life of my posterity. Thanks Rich
Personal Stories
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
Greater harmony in the home starts with each member learning the principles of the Atonement. As we take upon ourselves Christ like attributes, we begin to understand the commandment to love one another. We practice the principles of Love, Understanding, Compassion, Long Suffering and especially Forgiveness. We must remember the Savior is our judge and it is for us to forgive all men. Daily scripture study, family prayer, counseling with the children, listening in lieu of speaking out and practicing to be Christ like by putting others before ourselves is essential to a happy home. This type of behavior will bring peace, love and joy to your home.
How I live my faith
I strive to live each day with a mindset to better myself. I am dedicated to earning my place with Heavenly Father by continued prayer and scripture study. Each day I pray to do better than I did yesterday, hoping to be able to be a better example to my family and those around me. I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve in the community as well as within the church and have found nothing more rewarding than to know that I have been able to help someone along their way or lighten their burden just a little.
