About Me

I'm a wife, mom, grandma of 19 and a retired music teacher. I love to play the piano, guitar & ukulele. I enjoy reading and playing Scrabble. I love spending time with family and friends and taking pictures of fun times!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the church. I am so grateful to my ancestors who accepted it. I have gained my own testimony. Each time I read the Book of Mormon the spirit has told me it is true. Each time I listen to our prophet I know in my heart that he is speaking truth. When I strive to live Christ’s teachings I feel happy and confident.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good friend and neighbor. I serve in the church with the youth. I try to be grateful and always say thanks. My favorite scripture is found in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths” I know that this is true!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The official name of our Church is “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” it is named for Jesus Christ. In the ancient days the church was called “The Church of Jesus Christ” and it’s members were called ‘saints’, today the church bears the same name… but in the latter days. We are referred to as Mormons because of our belief in the Book of Mormon translated from ancient plates by the prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is a history of the people who inhabited the American Continent long ago. We believe in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon which is a special witness of Jesus Christ.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Mormons believe that we are commanded to love all people as sons and daughters of God, regardless of age, sex, race, or sexual orientation. However, we believe that homosexual behavior is a serious sin and in direct violation with the commandments of God. We believe that marriage, between a man and a woman, is ordained of God.
