I'm from Arizona and am a Sophomore in high school. I love to sing, play the piano, and dive. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Jamie and I am a sophomore in high school. I love to sing and dance. I have participated in many school musicals, and in choir. I also am in an entertainment company called LIGHT. We travel around the U.S performing, and sharing the gospel. I also am on my school dive team, and LOVE it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, and have always known it to be true. I have prayed to know of its truthfulness, and I know for myself that it is true. Being apart of this church has brought great joy into my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior, and that he suffered and died for me so that I could, if I obeyed his commandment, return to live with him and my Heavenly Father. I know I am a daughter of God, and that we are all his children. I am so grateful to be apart of this church, and to have a testimony of it.

How I live my faith

I actively attend church, and mutual, and in young women's, a group for 12-17 year old girls, I act as the first counselor. I also try to live like the savior, our perfect example, as best as I can. I attend seminary regularly and love it. I try to serve in the community by doing service projects, and participate in my school. One of the smaller things I have tried to do lately is treat others better than they treat me. This could involve saying hi, smiling, or just being kind. I have found that doing this I am much happier, and have more friends. I love this church and I know that by living righteously we will receive much joy in our lives.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Before this life, we lived with our heavenly father. This is known as the pre-existance. While we were there we were presented a plan about coming to this earth to be tried and tested. When we decided to follow this plan we were given the gift of being able to live forever in a kingdom of glory, either the celestial, terrestrial, or the telestial kingdom. However though being immortal, and having eternal life are very separate. If we are righteous, and strive to become more like Christ we will receive eternal life. Eternal life is known as living forever with God. Receiving this would bring one great happiness, as we would be with our savior, our families, and our heavenly father.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

As a primary president in my ward, I share in the direction and leadership of our ward. I don't feel secondary in any way. Whether you have the priesthood or not, you are still responsible to listen to the direction of the Savior. The priesthood is a tool and power that is the same power of the Savior. It allows the human authority to do work on earth, particularly perform ordinances, and bless others. As if the Savior was here in person during His ministry accounted for in the New Testament. I would use an analogy to compare the priesthood as a car. A car is an amazing tool allowing you to get you from here to there. I don't mind my husband driving and I can offer some navigation or work the radio, as long as we and our children get there.
