Kristen: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Kristen

I grew up in Michigan. I'm a former school teacher and mother of 3. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I completed a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. I taught in an elementary school in Utah for 4 years. After that time, I had a two year old, and a newborn, and my husband finished his BS. We then moved to Kentucky for my husband to begin Medical School. After 4 years in Kentucky, we had added another child, and were headed for Texas. There we began our Air Force career. We have also lived in Las Vegas and Germany, now we are back in Texas! I enjoy the privilege of staying at home to raise my kids. I now have two in high school and one finishing elementary. I spend my days at home - doing crafts, working on the computer, building furniture for my house, decorating, creating, and waiting for my kids to come home ... That's when the fun begins! I help my kids get to school activities, church activities, scouts, and finishing their assignments. As a family, we enjoy traveling, the outdoors, playing games, and being with our extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to grow up in a family that already had the gospel in the home. Both my parents are member of the church. I was raised with my 5 siblings, attending church and learning its teachings. I attending 4 years of early morning Seminary, continuing to build on my understanding of gospel principles. There was no single moment that I can point to that signified that I had a testimony. My testimony simply grew as I did. My faith was simple as a child, but as I grew I had opportunities to test that faith. As I continued my study of the gospel on my own (through scripture study, prayer, and church attendance), my testimony has grown stronger. I recognize the Holy Ghost and His influences in my life. I know that when I follow the principles taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am happier and grow closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for living prophets that give us continual guidance. I am especially grateful for my eternal family, and know that as we continue to increase our faith, follow the counsel of the prophets, listen to the whisperings of the Holy Ghost and stand for truth and righteousness we will be able to be in our Heavenly Father's presence again.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to live in many places. This has also provided me with the opportunity to serve in many different ways. I have worked with young children - teaching lessons and having activities. I have served in the Cub Scout program, and I have worked with youth. I have served as a Sunday teacher for the youth (12-18), as well as activities during the week, dances, and a year of early morning Seminary (like Bible study - but for High School age students, held in the mornings before school). I have also helped the women in the church, through Sunday lessons, monthly activities, craft activities, and monthly visits. I especially enjoy our Visiting Teaching program where we visit other women (with a companion) in our church. This program gives us an opportunity to serve each other, and have gospel discussions. Often, more service is created as a result of these visits and relationships. I love serving in the church! I have gained many skills, insights, and blessings from serving those around me.
