I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a fun-loving, silly girl trapped in the body of a thirty year-old woman. I'm an actor and a singer, a cosmetologist, a wife and a mom. I went to school and earned my Associates degree in Theatre. I then teased and permed my way through beauty school and received my cosmetology license. I love being on the stage, working behind the scenes, and singing in the chorus. I am currently taking a break from my acting gig to play the role of a stay at home mother to my three beautiful children and I adore it more than anything. I love to sew and craft and sing and play and blog and kiss and cook and bake and sleep and create.

I'm married to the most amazing man who supports our little family so very selflessly. He takes care of us without even thinking about what's in it for him and we have our struggles, like anyone else, but we always seem to come out on top. And although he, himself, isn't (yet) a member of the church, he is the perfect example of what a father and husband should be and I am so very lucky to have found him. We're working our way towards eternity, one step at a time, and loving the path that's taking us there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and grew up in a small town where the majority of people were also LDS. Living in the preverbial "bubble" I never really had to face much by means of peer pressure. I knew what I believed and so did all my friends.
When I moved away to go to school, I suddenly became the "minority" as far as religion was involved and it became evident that my beliefs were not the norm. I had to learn to stand on my own and not rely on my parent's or friend's testimonies. In doing this, I gained a very strong testimony. I know the gospel is true. I know we are all Heavenly Father's children and I know that we are here on Earth to fulfill our own individual missions and return to live with him when we are done. I know that my family and I can live together happily forever and I am so grateful for the peace and love that the gospel brings.

Personal Stories

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

My prayers have been answered in ways that are immeasurable. My husband and I had a difficult time conceiving children and many prayers were sent heavenward to help us. I now have two amazing sons and a beautiful daughter, all of which are the answers to many sincere and loving prayers. My answers didn't always come when I wanted them, and they haven't always been what I wanted to hear, but they are always what I need at that time in my life. I have learned to ask Heavenly Father for the things I want and need, but to turn the control over to him and to ask him to give us the things we need at the time we need them, and for us to be patient and understanding of his choices. It's amazing the blessings that our Heavenly Father gives us every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best example I can be. I am an example to my children, I am an example to my husband, I am an example to my friends and neighbors. I try and live daily as our Heavenly Father would want me to and to teach others by love and by being a disciple of Christ in word and deed. You never know who is watching you, so it's so important to always be the person you want others to see and to be true to yourself. Even if you think no one is watching, it's important to be true to your beliefs and I always strive to be the best example I can be.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Saying that Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) may cause a misunderstanding for some. LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed in Old Testament and New Testament times. The "of Latter-day Saints" in the church's name denotes that this is the last dispensation before Jesus Christ's Second Coming, or the last period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the keys of the holy priesthood. The Old Testament and New Testament discuss various dispensations when Christ's church existed on the earth in its authentic state.

So, what is the importance of Joseph Smith in relation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He was simply a man called to speak for the Lord and played a key role in the restoration of Christ's church here upon the earth in these latter-days. Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we do not worship Joseph Smith, but study his life and teachings to better understand the will of God. Joseph Smith may had been a leader, but he was not and is not the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The head of the church is clearly stated in the church's name. No. We worship only God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God chosen to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness back on the Earth. We deeply respect the man and all that he did for man kind as through him the Church of Jesus Christ and the authority which is called the Priesthood was restored to the Earth. The anciant people of Israel deeply revered and respected Moses and all that he did for them, but did not worship him. Joseph was a true Prophet of God and we see him as such, and we only worship the Father and the Son. Joseph was a servant of God and taught about how we should only worship God and Jesus Christ. The purpose of a Prophet is to point us to Christ and help us to know his will, and in these times as terrible as they are, we need the guidance of Prophets to help keep us on the path that God has put before us.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Sure I do. People have been deceived into believing that there are no prophets throughout biblical history. The first thing the adversary does when there is a prophet on the earth is to try to convince you that there are no such things or that the time has passed.

Think about it...when Noah preached to the people and prophesied that the flood was coming, they laughed at him. Even amongst the Jews, they disregarded and/or imprisoned Isaiah and Jeremiah because they prophesied that Israel would be carried away captive into Babylon.

I believe that the thing that one must overcome in order to believe that there are prophets alive today is get over the mindset that tells you that prophets have to be splitting the Red Sea or calling down fire from heaven in order to be considered as such. For every great miracle wrought by a biblical prophet there are many more who simply preached about the coming Messiah. Think of the prophets like Joel, Amos, Hosea and Habbakuk. These were prophets sent by God, but they were "boring" because they weren't performing miracles or commanding armies. The people disregarded their counsels at their spiritual peril.

Let us not repeat their error by not believing that prophets can't exist today. Let's instead get on our knees and receive our own personal revelation about the ones here amongst us.
