About Me

Hey I am Skyler, I come from a loving home and I am the youngest of three. My two older sisters say I am spoiled, and yes, they are right. I am from St. George Utah, and am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the incredible Spokane Washington Mission. I love to play tennis, deep sea fish, snowmobile, wake-board, water ski, and work with my father. My father and mother are some of my greatest examples, they taught me to work and to give everything all I have.

Why I am a Mormon

Well the reason I am a Mormon, is because I know it to be the lords only true living gospel on the earth. I have sincerely sought the lord in prayer to help my know the truth of what my parents taught me while I was growing up. I know by living the gospel of Jesus Christ that we can find life to be restful and easy, as the lord taught it should be. If we have faith in him, and have the desire to change and repent, then we can follow our savior more closely by being baptized, and receiving the gift of the holy ghost, so that we can stay strong and endure to the end. The gospel is something so marvelous and if we live it daily, the lord will make our burdens light. Now that doesn't mean he is going to take away the struggles, but he will strengthen us in our times of need, and provide a light, and the depths of dispare. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the lords church on the earth and that we have a living day prophet, I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of god for us in these days. The lord saved that ancient record for us to know that he is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I know that the savior loves us all so much, he loves me just as much as he loves the children in India. I know that as we strive to become more like the savior, that he will support and lift us, and help us to become who he wants us to be. sometimes it seems like he is asking us to walk on water, but he always provides a way, he helps us to do the impossible. i know we can do anything with him, that if he commands us to walk on water, then we truly can walk on water. I know Jesus Christ Lives, I know he is the son of god, and I know he atoned for us. I am so grateful for him. I know He Lives.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The Savior states what manner of men we ought to be, and says, even as he is. Sometimes it feels like he is asking us to walk on water, or to move mountains. However, I know the lord knows that we can do all he asks us to do. I know he lives and loves us so much. He never asks or gives what we can't handle. I know that we can do all that he asks of us.

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

I share the gospel, by not being afraid. Honestly what is the worst thing that will happen. I share the gospel, by seeing others as sons and daughters of god, and following the example of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by giving the lord all I have. When he says "jump", I say "how high?". I know my mother wishes I would say that to her. I live my faith, by being obedient to the commandments, honouring and loving my parents and living the life the god has in store for me. I live my faith by trying constantly to have the constant companionship of the holy ghost.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No we are not required to serve a mission. But the lords promises for serving are so much better.

Serving a mission is a priesthood responsibility, and young men are asked to sacrifice two years in order to serve others, gain experience as followers of Christ, and grow in their faith. However, that is a choice each individual has to make on their own and deciding not to go does not affect a person's standing in the Church. But those who do go, men and women alike, usually find that two years is not enough time and wish they could stay longer. Service creates bonds of love for the people you serve. I was unable to go in my young adult years, but I still yearn for the opportunity and look forward to a time when I can serve as a missionary.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jesus Christ. The name of our curch is the Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When Christ was on the earth He started a church and it was organized by apostles, prophets, pastors, and teachers. Of course the organization that he set up later fell because people didn't want to hear from them. So later on, in the 1800s, Christ and Heavenly Father found it to be the right time to bring that same organization back to the earth. And they then called another prophet, the same way Christ did when he was on the earth. And that Prophet's name was Joseph Smith.
