Tessa: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tessa

Im a convert of almost five years, I am a native of Arizona, and Im a Mormon.

About Me

In one year I joined the church, graduated from ASU, and got married. I am a mother of two beautiful children, first a son then a daughter. I have been married for 5 years. I was baptized almost 5 years ago after a long road of hardship. I love outdoor activities, water activities, playing with my kids, working out, game night with our friends, and just relaxing at home with my family. I teach Relief Society and Activity Days.

Why I am a Mormon

I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I wasn’t. I come from a broken family. My parents divorced when I was three years old and both parents had multiple marriages. My father was murdered when I was 11 which was the hardest thing ever. Drug and alcohol addictions run deep on both sides of my family and I knew at an early age I wanted to change that pattern. I was living a boyfriend at the time that had many problems too, drugs, alcohol, physical abuse, and pornography. I found myself following the only path I knew, until I woke up one day and said enough is enough. He and I lived in a wonderful neighborhood in which I was surrounded by many wonderful members. I got to know one family in particular and we became good friends. We shared many Family home evenings together and eventually I ended up moving in with them and learning the gospel. After a few months of taking the discussions I was asked to kneel by myself and ask if this church is true. I remember thinking I have never knelt to pray but I did that night and I knew without a doubt that it was. I committed myself to baptism and also committed myself to extreme hardships to come. My mother pretty much disowned me and most of my family was pretty upset. I knew in my heart no matter if they never talked to me again that I was going to get baptized. And December 23 I was baptized and then December 24 I received the best Christmas gift ever, the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The day I received it I felt an overwhelming feeling. I knew I did what was right. I met my husband 3 months later and got married later that year. My mother didn’t come around until we started to have children. She still doesn’t agree with my choice, but I know that this gospel could not be any truer. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and I know he lives. I am grateful for missionaries who save people’s lives like mine. I love President Monson and I know he is a true prophet. And I am proud to say I am a Mormon.

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

I think a few things that I hope I have in my home and that I have felt in other peoples home is first pictures of Christ in every room especially where the TV is. Also a picture of the temple, it is a reminder of Eternity and all the blessings we can have. I think playing good clean music in our home invites the spirit and gives a sense of peace for all that live in the home. I also love quotes throughout the house because they are constant reminders on how to be better people. And one of the biggest is family dinner and family prayers. Its brings us back together after being surrounded and bombarded by worldly things.

How I live my faith

I love to help people organize their homes or offices. I do my best to cook meals for familys when they are in need. In my ward I teach the women once a month about a certain church topic. I also love that I get to meet with the young girls in our church twice a month and teach them how to make things, build, clean, design, ect. I love to see their happy faces.
