Hi, I'm Ken

I grew up in Utah and have lived in Arvada for 32 years. I love all time with my family of Children/Grandchildren, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City and moved to Colorado after College. I work at Centurylink Communications and have for many years when we were US West and Qwest communications. I travel in my work across the country and enjoy seeing this great country and the great people I get to meet all over.
I love to be outside and be active. I enjoy golf, hiking, river rafting, boating and anything that involves water. My wife and I love to be where it is warm taking vacations to mostly places with beaches when we can. I love to take my children and grandchildren to sporting events, meals, BBQ's, vacations as they are so much fun to be around.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of goodly parents and they raised me in the LDS church. I think that over time I have come to know for myself that the church is true. At some point as a young adult, I came to know that Jesus is the Christ and that I have a Father in Heaven that loves me very much. I have studied the Bible and Book of Mormon and know them to be scripture written by prophets for use in our time. I know the Book of Mormon is true and realize that each person must find this out for themselves. Joseph Smith was as a boy and young man a Prophet of God that restored Jesus Christ's true church on the earth today. I know that through special ordinances, I can have my family together with me after this life and in eternal life to come.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

As young parents we found out that one of our children was handicaped severly. It seemed a bitter pill to swallow for us as we thought how a loving heavenly father could allow something to happen to one of his children. As we prayed together over a long period of time and went to the temple often, we came to a new understanding of our heavenly fathers plan. I know how much he loves this child the the special place he put this child in our home to be protected from an evil world throughout this life. Hopefully, I will live a good enough life to be allowed to be with this special child of God in our life to come. The blessings this has brought our family are special and priceless buy any standard defined today.

How I live my faith

I have served in my church over a number of years in leadership and mostly with our Young people. I love our youth and see them as the future and that this is a bright future. I am currently serving as the Stake Clerk which is a administrative position. It is a lot like being a CFO for a large congregation in other churches. I am responsible for the record keeping for both our members, events and finances in our church in arvada. I am responsible that procedures and practicies are followed to safeguard peoples information as well as the sacred funds that are donated by our members and distribution of those funds properly in the church. I serve with great leaders that preside over there flocks or members and see the tremendous amount of faithful service given to further the work of Jesus Christ here in Arvada.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

The Apostle Paul taught that “neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 11:11). In the sight of God, and in the marriage relationship, men and women are equally important.

I have known many special women in my life and honor all of them deeply. My mother that taught me to reach and dream, then make it happen. My Wife who was a tremendous example to my children as a great mother and who has refined me into a better person. My Daughters that are great and loving mothers and wives that honor there marriage covenants. This is what mormon women are like to me, independent, smart, confident, loving, kind, capable, devout, loyal and extremely close to the spirit of Christ.

Yes! We firmly believe that men and women are equal in the eyes of God and are given separate, but equally important responsibilities here on Earth. Men are given the power of the Priesthood, which allows them to do things for their families and others such as give blessings or baptize individuals. Women are given the sacred responsibility of bringing children into the world and to support their husbands with their responsibilities. Both parents are encouraged to teach gospel principles to their children together and to live in harmony with the Church.
This is not to say women are not encouraged to pursue educational endeavors or career opportunities. Each family is different, we are encouraged to pray and make decisions based on what is best for our families.
Every Mormon woman is different, but we all have something in common. We are all daughters of our Father in Heaven.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely! Heavenly Father loves us, His children. He loves us so much that He listens to our prayers. He also loves us so much that He has given prophets throughout history to lead us, teach us, and guide us.
