Angelia: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Angelia

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I did not have the "typical" childhood. After my parents were divorced and my mother could not care for me anymore, I was raised by my grandparents in a small town in Arizona. We did not have much money so I worked very hard so I could get scholarships to attend college. I was able to attend a university, where I got a degree in teaching. I got married and have 3 children. I love to cook, scrapbook, read, and spend time outside (when it's not blazing Arizona hot!). My favorite thing to do is to be with my husband and children and sit back and watch them laugh and have fun as a family!

Why I am a Mormon

I was not born a Mormon. We did not go to church. When I was eight years old, we met the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and took the lessons. My mom and stepfather and I were all baptized. We went to church for about 2 years and then our lives began to fall apart. My mother got divorced and I moved in with my grandparents, who were not members of the Church (or any church, for that matter). I stopped going to church until a Mormon friend invited me one day. I remember walking back into that church and feeling loved. I knew it was where I belonged. From that day on, I went to church every week by myself (I was only 12 years old, mind you). My grandparents were very supportive and took me to all of my weekly mutual meetings, Sunday meetings, and even early morning Seminary at 6:00am so I could learn more about the gospel and be active in the Church. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is Christ's church. I love the feeling I get when I go. I love the people who welcome me each week. I love learning about who we are, where we came from, and where we are going. I love following the Savior and trying my best to do as He would have me do. I love being a Mormon!

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Mormons are interested in family history work because it links us to our ancestors and them to us. Families are so important in our religion and we want to be linked to them. We find out about those who have passed away so that we can go to the temples and be baptized for them and to do other work for them that is necessary for us to return to our Heavenly Father. Just as our Heavenly Father cares for and loves each of us, He also loves every single person that has ever lived upon this earth and wants them to receive the same blessings that we have. What if a person never had the chance to hear about our Church or even have religion in their lives while living on this earth? We can do the work for them and they have the opportunity to accept it, just like we do. It makes sense that God would want EVERYONE to hear the good news of the gospel and be able to return to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all I can to help out in my ward. I attend my meetings and I love to go to our monthly get-togethers of the sisters in my ward. I am in charge of Visiting Teaching in my ward, in which the women see to the needs of each other by visiting each other, helping the sick, and just being a friend. I love getting to know the women of my ward and having instant friends....instant people to talk to or call on when I need a helping hand, instant advice when I need it, instant playgroups for my children, and instant love when they don't even know who I am. I am blessed to get to help organize these women and make sure everyone is accounted for, that no one is forgotten.
