About Me

I'm 19 years old, currently attending college and am graduating this year with my Bachelor's in History. Some of my hobbies include ice skating, biking, hiking, cross-stitching, and reading. I love the church and the gospel and love to speak about it with anyone I meet.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church and that the Book of Mormon is an inspired book. I started attending church when I was dating a Mormon boy in high school. As I attended church meetings, studied the scriptures and even went to girls camp, I felt frustrated as everyone talked about this "spirit" that I could not seem to feel. However, I stayed diligent, learning all I could and I did. I could feel it and it was wonderful. I can feel it now as I write this. I know that the Savoir lives, that we have prophets on the Earth today and that Heavenly Father loves all of us so much more than we can imagine. I love the gospel and the church and will always be a faithful member.

How I live my faith

In all of my actions, I try to think of what Christ would have done in my position. I read my scriptures daily and learn how to act from them as well. I am at the head of a group of women in my ward and I love it. I help organize events, lead the meetings, and strengthen the sisters. I do everything I can to make them feel like they are loved. I also am involved in a visiting teaching group. In this, the women go out and teach the other women lessons, have discussions and make sure they are doing well, all in the comfort of their homes. I love visiting teaching because it gives you someone to always talk to and it is what Christ did in his ministry.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

The tithing that Mormons pay goes into everything that we provide. It builds church buildings and temples. It prints materials and scriptures. It funds missionary programs as well as aid that we provide to all who stand in need when disasters strike all around the world. Without tithing, our church would not be able to function, just as it would not be able to without faithful members who give that ten percent so generously.

Tithing is paid in faith. I know these funds will not be misused. I pay tithing because it is a commandment, and because I love God and want to give Him back a small porion of what He has given me, to futher build up His church. These funds go to build and maintain church buildings and temples and other like expenses. Our clergy is not paid. There is no collection plate. We simply pay our tithing, our fast offerings, we share what we have gladly. This is God's way. For this is God's church.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe that He was the God of the Old Testament. Under the direction of the Father, He created the earth. He spoke to the Old Testament prophets such as Noah, Abraham and Moses. He was born to the virgin Mary in Bethlehem. He walked among the people of Palestine, working many mighty miracles. He suffered and died for our sins. He rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven to stand on the right hand of the Father. We believe that He appeared alongside the Father to the prophet Joseph Smith. Today, He is at the head of our church and leads it through the prophet and twelve apostles. He will come again to reign upon the earth with all those who have faith in Him. Through Him, and Him alone, we can be forgiven for our sins and receive eternal live in the Kingdom of God.
