Hi, I'm Melodie
I'm Melodie. I'm a musician, a university student, a family life major, a loving wife, a soon to be mother, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I grew up in the sweltering Arizona heat, but after graduating left for cooler weather and to attend one of the Mormon Church's religious universities. I have enjoyed participating in many musical groups throughout my life, especially the ones that give me opportunities to bear my testimony of the gospel. Now i'm still singing, still going to school, I have a crazy puppy to make things interesting, I'm married to an amazing, handsome and responsible husband, and we're expecting our first baby soon- it's a girl!
Why I am a Mormon
I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's true church. I was raised in the church by righteous parents and baptized when I was 8, but it wasn't until I was 14 that I knew it for myself. God does hear our prayers, and he does answer them. He talks to mankind today, not only through prophets (like Thomas S. Monson) and other leaders he calls to lead his church, but also to individuals directly. That's how I know. That's how you can know.
Another reason I am a Mormon is because I know that living the gospel as taught by the Mormon church is the surest way to find true and enduring happiness. As I pray daily I grow closer to God and he gives me the strength I need to overcome any challenge I face. As I give my family priority in my life he blesses me with happiness at home. I know that the happiness found in family life is the greatest happiness I will ever experience. I am grateful to know that my marriage to my wonderful, nerdy, plant-loving husband will last forever- even after death; and I am grateful that I will also have an eternal relationship with the children who will come to our family. I am a Mormon because through the gospel I can be with my family forever.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by praying and studying the scriptures daily.
I serve and love my husband.
I go to church every week and teach about marriage and family in Sunday school.
I go to the temple to worship and serve- the temple is a beautiful, sacred, and wonderful place.
I befriend others in my community and visit them in their homes at least once a month.
I cook dinner for those in my community facing challenges.
I share my testimony through singing hymns at church, at home, and in choirs.
And one big act of faith I have taken is choosing to bring one of God's children into this world and into our home.
