About Me

I am currently a masters student. It's not always easy being a mormon, married, and a student in a party college town. I find joy in golfing and camping with my husband, instead of partying. Most of my time is consumed with school activities and studying.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy being a Mormon because it helps me to live the life I know I should. It is nice to have close ties to my family, whatever their religion, and sharing the joys of life with them. It is peaceful knowing that through salvation, I will have eternal joy with my family.

How I live my faith

My husband and I enjoy attending church on Sunday. It gives me an opportunity to "recharge" and take a break from every day struggles like school. It is a place to enjoy the simple, basic things in life and also a time to reflect on all the joy God has given to me.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

To sum it all up, family is so imporant because it is all we have in this life, and eternally. Everything else can be gone in a second. Family is the base of my life. My family supports and encourages me. They make me happy, comfort me, and love me unconditionally. I cannot find that in anyone or anything else.

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise.
Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life.
If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Yes! We firmly believe that men and women are equal in the eyes of God and are given separate, but equally important responsibilities here on Earth. Men are given the power of the Priesthood, which allows them to do things for their families and others such as give blessings or baptize individuals. Women are given the sacred responsibility of bringing children into the world and to support their husbands with their responsibilities. Both parents are encouraged to teach gospel principles to their children together and to live in harmony with the Church.
This is not to say women are not encouraged to pursue educational endeavors or career opportunities. Each family is different, we are encouraged to pray and make decisions based on what is best for our families.
Every Mormon woman is different, but we all have something in common. We are all daughters of our Father in Heaven.
