Kathryn: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Kathryn

I love to travel internationally. I started an organization that facilitates communication for families with teens. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was raised outside of Washington, D.C. in a town called Vienna Virginia. I was the middle girl of 4 brothers. I earned a degree in interpersonal communications and public relations. In 1997, I worked in England for a company called Covey Leadership, now Franklin Covey. I also enjoyed working as a reporter in college. After graduating I had several odd jobs like AIDS prevention clinics in SouthEast DC and communications on Capitol Hill. I moved out to Arizona for a change and met my husband who is from Los Angeles. We now have 3 boys and a girl. I started a company that facilitates communication between 10-18 year olds and their parents. I also am writing a workbook that helps teens identify their goals and how to present those goals to their parents so parents turn into partners of what the teens want. To get my mind of the stresses of life, I love watching movies and ready cheesy romance novels, like Jane Austin. I travelled to Russia when I was 17 by earning the funds and went without my parents. I caught the travel bug and love to go to adventurist places with some political stability. I'm not that crazy. I went bungee jumping in Lake Tahoe and would love for my next birthday to go hot air ballooning or go to a race driving course/excursion.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have been exposed to the principles, my heart and mind felt complete assurance. There is no denying the spirit and the beauty of feeling that spirit (assurance) is that despite all of our imperfections and emotions, we have one constant relationship with truth and God. If I could wish one thing for all mankind it would be that all have a true relationship with their Father in Heaven who is just waiting to love and guide us. With small and sincere prayer, we can unlock our unlimited potential more than just chasing the world's ways. There are many religions with good principles. The distinction for me is that I can have a heightened more committed relationship with my God through the church of Jesus Christ. I am a witness to my Savior's love. I have directly felt, understood and learned from my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that this church, it's leaders, doctrine is the most correct and is directed by the Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Just like the effort it takes to have a healthy body, I have to put forth time and effort for a healthy spirit. This includes the commitments I have made to caring and loving others. Reading scriptures and prayer are almost magical. If you find yourself grumpy, hurt, the last thing you should do is follow those instincts. My favorite quote is "Pray when you least feel like it". Serve, love, read scriptures and prayer has healed my down times. Just keep walking/moving. I have to also say the temple is a tremendous gift. Every time I spend time and meditation at the temple, I am rejuvenated. My mind is enlightened. I should also say, my favorite scriptures are the texts that have Jesus Christ speaking himself. Some parts of Old Testament guiding the people, New Testament with His ministry and Doctrine and Covenants. So fun. You can get to know the Savior really well when you read His words.
