Hi, I'm Katie Lynn
Will small hometown roots, but quenchless longing for adventure and philanthropy, I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I learn more about my strengths and limitations every day, but try to focus forward and onward and upward. I love people; I think individuals are beautiful inside and out. I missed the 'don't talk to strangers lesson'; one of my favorite things to do is randomly strike up conversation with someone I wouldn't otherwise expect to interact with. I try to stay open by meeting and getting to know every kind of person I can. I love the variety our Father in Heaven blessed us with in this earth. I try to stay active by biking, hiking, walking, and camping to appreciate the beautiful world we live in. I love working, almost to a fault, and constantly strive for a work-life to family-life balance. My forte is fixing things; give me a mess and I'll clean it up, organize it, categorize it, and wrap it up neatly delivered. I currently assist a nuclear engineer and am loving all I'm learning. Who knew radioactive waste could be SO interesting?! People are often surprised when they learn "sweet" little me loves all kinds of live music, riding her motorcycle, traveling alone, sharing meals with the homeless, and advice from strangers. Change is great and constant flux is even better! I want to try and do and see and share.
Why I am a Mormon
I love the Savior. I believe in Him and I hope his message is true; I live my life on faith. I am a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints because I choose to have faith that His message and His gospel are true for ME and will bring lasting happiness. I appreciate the wholesome lifestyle that His church encourages and the loving guidance He continues to provide His children. I have a church family and am never alone if I am willing to accept the love they offer me. I think this is precisely how he would wish me to feel as a daughter of God. I love the family message of His church and am so thankful to know that I can be with my family forever. I am so grateful for a church that reminds me regularly that God loves me and knows me and cares what happens to me, even in my imperfection.
Personal Stories
How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
I believe one of the great missions we have in life is to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. The more we choose His path and His ways, the closer we become to understanding Him and His message. The more we understand, the easier it becomes to see and follow the right path. God wants us to return to Him and He wants to help us on our journey back. If we let Him, if we seek for Him, He will help us make right choices that can elucidate that next right choice.
It's so easy to get distracted in this life! It may be good things or bad things that take us away from the BEST things. We need to constantly strive for and seek the BEST things.
What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is believing that our struggles are worth it.
I hope that I can be forgiven for my weaknesses. I hope I can do better each day at becoming the amazing daughter of God that I know I can be. I hope those around me can be patient as I learn and grow and mess up and try to fix it. I hope I can be as patient and forgiving with others as I need them to be for me.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I am so glad that we are all so different! If we all allow ourselves to stretch and grow and do and try the things that we are drawn to, we can feed each others' souls; we strengthen each other when we uplift one another.
I'm still learning and developing my talents and gifts, but I think my openness and non-judgmental attitude allows others to be their true selves with me; I get the chance to help people work through their problems because they know they can trust me.
I know I have leaned on the strengths of others when I didn't have quite enough of my own for some reason. Our talents and gifts allow us to support each other from a position of strength.
How I live my faith
I try every day to be the best person I can be and I work at forgiving myself for my failings and shortcomings. I think I've been blessed with a charitable, forgiving nature and I love people, all people! Give me a stranger to get to know and I'm in heaven on earth.
Every year I host a charity event for a different worthy cause. We get together to enjoy good music, good food, and great company and collect donations.
I try to be a good steward of the earth and care for God's creations responsibly. I try to stay mindful of the impact I have on others and that each of them is a child of God too. We have to take care of ourselves and each other.
