I'm a college student, I love a good laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A question I get asked a lot is, "Why are you always smiling?" and the answer is because I'm happy. What isn't there to be happy about? I have a great family and friends, who love and support me, make me laugh, and put up with my crazy dance moves and constant singing. I love to sing; in fact, I'm doing so right now. You can tell how happy I am at any given moment by how loudly I'm singing. Dancing is a new found passion of mine. I've taken swing, Latin, ballroom, and even some hip-hop and belly dancing classes. I wouldn't say I'm a good dancer, but I have fun doing it and that's all that matters to me.

Why I am a Mormon

Moving away from home is a time to change and grow. One day, as I was running around getting the full college experience, I realized that I wasn't happy. It took me quite some time to realize that I was unhappy because I didn't like who I was becoming. I was completely shocked at how different I had become from my small town, high school self. Luckily, I went back home shortly after this revelation and was able to reconnect with my best friends from back home. And they were looking out for me, even if they didn't know it. One of my friends had asked the missionaries to contact me. I decided that meeting with the missionaries might help me figure things out, and at the very least, I would be able to learn more about the LDS church, something my friends cared about deeply.

One month later, I was baptized and I haven't looked back since. I am happier than I've ever been. I feel at home with the church. Even after my first meeting with the missionaries, I felt an undeniable joy. That joy hasn't gone away since being baptized, in fact, it has intensified. I hope that this joy never goes away, and I know it won't as long as I firstly, love God with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my mind, and secondly, show love and charity towards others.

How I live my faith

Faith is an action word. It's something we have to exercise in order to make stronger. I exercise my faith through prayer, reading scriptures, and attending church. These are the foundations of faith, but there is even more to do to strengthen faith. Attending church functions gives me the chance to spend time with and learn from people my own age who have the same values as I do. Having that positive atmosphere allows many opportunities for my faith to grow. I was once told, "Faith is a conveyor belt; it's either moving forward or backwards, but it's always moving. It's up to you to decide which way it's going." Prayer, scripture study, and attending Sunday services and other church functions is my way of making sure my faith is moving forward.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

YES!!! This is one of my favorite parts of the gospel. I believe that my family will live together in heaven. I will know my family as my family members. My husband is my husband for now and for all eternity. My children are my children here on earth and for all eternity. I know that if something happened to one of us that I will see them again. I love this about the church. Before joining, I always had a question about this concept and when taking the discussions from the missionaries this came up. Makes me love the church more and more.

When married by earthly power and the authority of man, our vows are "Until death do you part."

We believe that families can be together forever as part of our Heavenly Father's Great Plan of Happiness. His Work and His Glory is to bring to pass the exaltation and eternal life of man. He wants us to be even as He is and to return home to live with Him again.

Through the ordinances of his Holy Temples, God's son's and daughter's are able to make covenants. Through the power of His Holy Priesthood, be sealed together for all of time and eternity as Husband and Wife, parents and children.

Families were designed and instituted by God with the intent that they be forever. The love we feel in this life does not need to be cut off when we die. Those who have already died are not lost us forever. God has mercifully made a way by which all who would accept these saving ordinances can do so, living or dead.

We perform these ordinances for those who have in the past died so that they may have the opportunity of accepting them on the other side if they so choose to do so.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

In the Church we believe that marrige is between a man and a woman and that if a person acts on homosexual urges it is a sin. Inspite of us believing that homosexuality is a sin we think that we should love all of Gods childeren and we should not judge a person or condemn them. You can love the sinner and hate the sin. No one deserves to be degraded or bullied even if you dont agree with what they are doing. We are all childeren of God.
