I am a Mom and Grandmother. I Love to Waterski, Swim, Bike and Run. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5, grandmother of 4 and I married a wonderful man whom I have been married to now for 32 years. I love to slalom water ski, swim, bike and run. My husband always tell others how much I love to ride up hill on my bike, he's telling the truth. Crazy Lady! I put all my workouts to the test this past year and began doing triathlons. It's been a blast! I just started Mountain Bike Riding with my workout partner and my husband. I love it! Pretty crazy for a grandma!
I love serving in the church and have spent many years working with the youth, it's great! They help keep me young and they are amazing people.
Baking is one of my favorite things to do and I love delivering bake goods to family, friends and neighbors. I enjoy entertaining in my home and having people just enjoy themselves. It really makes me happy to serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

Not only do I know the church is true, I have a deep testimony that Joseph Smith did indeed speak to God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, that Jesus Christ did atone for my sins. I know that we have a living prophet on this earth today, president Thomas S. Monson. I know my family is an eternal family. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try each and every day to make sure that I am a shepherd for my Savior Jesus Christ. I try to be aware of other and my family’s needs. To always try and serve others, to be friendly, kind, and interested in them whether they are members of my faith or not. I always show respect for others. I try to be worthy to have the light of Christ with me and to share that with those I contact each and every day.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

The same way that you come to know anyone better, talk with him. Our Heavenly father blessed us with prayer, which is the means by which we converse with him. Think of every prayer as a phone call, not writing a letter; expect God to answer your prayers and listen for his response. Prayer is a two way conversation and the best way to come to know our Father in Heaven and what he wants for us.

I have come to know our Father in Heaven through private prayer and service. As I pray and receive answers through impressions and feelings, I am able to assist in His work. At other times, I have been comforted at the times when I needed it most by a very real presence. I feel His love as I serve others and I can feel His love for them.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Sometimes if people know I am Mormon, they believe that I will not be friendly and accepting to those who practice a different lifestyle than mine. The truth is MOST of my dear friends do not share my lifestyle. I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, I don't watch R rated movies.

And, I believe marriage is between a man and a woman.

Does that mean that I don't want to be friends or on a committee with someone who is gay or lesbian? Not any more than I would avoid a person who smokes or drinks or watches R rated movies. While I don't choose to participate in those activities, I have many friends that I cherish dearly, including friends who are gay and lesbian, who view political and religious issues differently than me. I don't "tolerate" them. I adore them. And, thankfully, for me, they don't tolerate me either. We respectfully disagree on various political and religious issues, but there are so many other important things that bring us together as friends and community members. One of my most cherished friends, who identifies as a lesbian, told me the other day, "Michele, before you, I had a stigma about Mormons. You have changed that. I cherish you." Her remark is dear to my heart. It says she knows I love her, but even more, it says something about her that she gave me a chance when others told her not to. I am grateful she was willing to give me a chance because I gained a very special friend - a sister of my heart.
