Hi, I'm Josie
Im a mother of 2, a small business owner. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a mother of 2 little girls born 2/08 and 5/10. They keep me on my toes at all times! I love to knit, crochet, sew and craft any way I can. I love to spend my time playing with my girls, teaching them new things, watching soap opera's, driving around and being outdoors. We recently moved away from home to go to Vet school. I grew up on a farm and love being with my family in the fresh air. I make my own cloth diapers, use all sorts of reusable products, and I have even been able to open up an online store selling some of these products to help suport our family while my husband is in school. I love being able to help our family, and stay home and take care of my girls at the same time.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into the church but that doesnt mean I dont have a testimony of my own. I knew the church was true at a young age through the amazing testimonies of the members of my family. I knew that if these amazing people beleived the church to be true, I did as well. Through reading the scriptures, attending church meetings and reading church magazines I began to develop a greater love for the church and its teachings. When I met my husband in college we decided to read The Book Of Mormon together before we were married. Through reading the teachings, and prayer we both developed a very strong testimony that this is the true church and that we wanted to be a strong part of it. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that without him and the strength he had to continue on, even when things got hard, The Book Of Mormon and its teachings would not be here for us to learn from. I know that we have latter day prophets who are here to be the mouths of God. I love this church. I love the people I have met who are members, and I love sharing the gospel with others I have the oportunity to meet.
Personal Stories
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
One of the best feelings in the world is the feeling of helping others! I love to share the talents I have in crafting and living with minimal expense with others. I enjoy teaching people how to make gifts with their hands that mean much more to the recever. The skills I have learned from the ladies in our ward in canning, sewing, couponing and many other things will be things I will always cherish being taught! By helping others we open ourselves up to be helped and by sharing tallents 1 turns to 2 and so on very quickly!
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
Genealogy is a great way to get to know who you are by learning who came before you! We do family history work to find members of our extended family so that we can do ordinences for them in the temple.
How I live my faith
I have spend a good chunk of the last few years as a teacher of our youth. I taught the 7 year olds who were getting ready to be baptised. This calling helped me gain a greater testimony of the truth of the gospel as these little people were already so strong in their faith and knew exactly why they wanted to be baptised. The lessons the children were taught were great reminders for me of the things I need to remember and live day to day.
The last year I have been a member of the committee that gets together and plans out activities for the ladies in our ward. I even taught a class on how to live cheaply including cloth diapers, homemade laundry soap, how to make simple childrens supplies (paint, play dough), and using reusable products. I love being able to share the knowledge I have spent years discovering on my own! It is a great feeling for me when I have the oportunity to help someone save money and save the planet!
