Karen: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Karen

I graduated with a BS from BYU and an MS from Stanford in electrical engineering. I have five children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love teaching science and working with kids. I also enjoy the fine arts. I dance with a group for school assemblies, organize a ballroom dance class for youth, teach aerobics, perform in plays and musicals, and teach my kids piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that this church contains the gospel of Jesus Christ in the purest form: loving others, centering on family and other eternal relationships, prophets, revelation, and personal prayer. I testify that by acting on these simple truths, a person may draw closer to God while finding happiness and fulfillment in this life and in the life to come.

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

As a parent, make rules foster good habits and set the example by keeping them.
Sing and laugh.
Read scriptures and pray as a family.
Read wholesome stories to children at night.
Tuck everyone in bed with a hug.
Awake everyone with a hug.
Tell your family members that you love them daily.
Never speak badly of someone in the family outside the home.
Listen.
Work with your children and don't call it a chore.
Play with your children and don't call it a waste of time.
Take vacation.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

One right choose generally leads to a testimony of that decision which gives a person greater faith to follow God in the next decision.

How I live my faith

I work as the leader administering to the specific needs of sisters in my congregation. I visit with sisters and try to help them both spiritually and temporally. I can do this for over one hundred sisters through the organization of the church in a program called visiting teaching where every woman has two other sisters stop by each month to give a spiritual message and find out if there is a need in the family. If something arises, I work to bring resources or comfort to the sister and her family. I also oversee monthly evening activities for the women as well as weekly exercise programs for those that are interested.
