Alisa: singer, daughter, teacher, student, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Alisa

I live in next to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I plan on being a choir teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. Ever since I was a little kid I have loved music. For a really long time I thought I was going to preform on Broadway. However, I had a teacher that influenced me greatly. He taught me that music was not just technique. He taught us that music came from emotion. Teaching me this showed me that music can be used for so many good things. Through him I have learned that I want to teach people this love that I feel for music. I am the eldest in my family. I have 5 siblings and I LOVE IT! I love family and I love spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I was slightly rebellious. I did not believe that the church was true. I didn't believe it at all. However, one day my Sunday school teacher challenged me personally to read the Book of Mormon. I am a little competitive so I decided that I was going to win the bet and prove that the Book of Mormon was not true. So I started reading. At the time I didn't notice, but as I read I became a better sister, friend, and daughter. I was happier and I was more willing to go to church. Early into the challenge I was reading in 1 Nephi 13. As I read I came across verse 40 which says, "And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved." After I read this I felt like I had been engulfed by fire. I immediately fell to my knees and prayed to Heavenly Father and I asked the very simple question of, "Is it true?" I didn't have to ask though; I knew that the church was true. I knew that Joseph Smith was the prophet. I knew that there was a living prophet on the Earth and he led us through inspiration. I knew that Christ lives and that He loves me more than I can comprehend. I knew that everything that I had been taught since I was two was true. Now I still know that this is true. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind of the truth of this gospel. I am so blessed to be a member of His church.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is a huge part of my life. It is very important to me that I pray as often as I can. It is important because I know that He hears me. He hears me no matter what is happening. He hears me when I am hurt, happy, angry, etc. I know that if I pray He will answer me and He will comfort me. Prayer helps me remember that He loves me. He gives us prayer so that we can communicate with Him anytime that we want. We are His children. Because we are His children He wants to be there for us. Prayer is a major way that we can talk to Him. Prayer has helped me especially in times of sadness and sorrow. It has helped me because I know that Heavenly Father understands. He understands everything that I am saying. He understands even when there might be someone on Earth that doesn't. I know that I can go to Him no matter what and He will hear me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday through my actions and my example. I try to be the best example for my friends and my family that I can. I try to remember Christ in everything that I do. One specific thing that I do is I send out a text to my friends in the morning with a scripture. I send them out with a hope that they will remember Christ in their day.
