Hi, I'm Juanique
I'm an Injury Therapist. I'm a South African in the USA. I'm a young bride. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born and raised in beautiful South Africa until 15 years of age. My family and I then immigrated to the USA where I started my new life with them. Although I sound American for the most part, my roots and mannerisms will forever remain South African. I met my husband (on a blind date) when I was 17, got engaged to him when I was 18 and then married him when I was 19 years old. We now live in Colorado where he's studying Contemplative Psychology at Naropa University and I'm running my own business as a and Neurostructural and Injury Massage therapist. In my spare time I enjoy running, exercising, reading, board games and blogging. I plan to return to school to study nutrition and dietetics so I can incorporate it into my practice in the near future and further help all my clients that come to see me.
Why I am a Mormon
I choose every day to be a Mormon because It brings me unprecedented happiness to live the full gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon isn't about doing, it's about being. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches me and reminds me everyday of who I am, why I'm here and what I can become. It helps me to be the best person I can be. It give me meaning and quality, it helps me see the world and all that exists in it an eternal perspective.
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
When I first moved to the USA at the age of 15, I had no friends, no connections, no nothings. I had left everything behind in South Africa, home, friends, sports teams and family. I was more alone than I had ever been. Kids at school were cruel and treated me like an outcast, something I had never experienced in my life. Everyday I prayed to Heavenly Father for a friend, for some relief, just something to ease my loneliness. Heavenly Father did that and more for me. He first taught me to come to know Him and His purpose he had for that empty time in my life. After I had done this my hollow life was fulled which a more mature meaning. I felt like the Lord raised me during that time to see things from his perspective, and I did. I became strong, independent and self reliant, only relying on Him and myself for happiness. I didn't need to look for an external source to help me feel fulfilled. At 15 years old I was taught that happiness is independent of other people, clothes, friends, social status's and sports teams. After I had learned to feel happiness through Him, he then blessed me with someone very special. I then met a person who would become my best friend. Her and I have stayed best friends ever since. The Lord didn't need to give me her, but through His tender mercies he did.
How I live my faith
I participate in my community by teaching and being a part of a youth organization for girls ages 12-18. I help teach life and gospel lessons and participate in youth activities. I work with the coolest girls in the world! Seriously, they rock!
