Hi, I'm Rebekah
I grew up and live in the United States. I was raised in the Mormon church
About Me
My family is very important to me I love spending time with them. We take lots of pictures and one of our hobbies is scrapbooking the pictures we take. I enjoy doing craft projects that I can either give to friends or use in my home. I love horseback riding and being out on a nice long ride.
Why I am a Mormon
First of all I was raised in the Church. I have continued to be a member because the message that we share not only with people not of our faith but with our members stirs something in the soul. As I entered the temple doors for the first time I felt like I had come home. My heart and soul realized that everything I had experienced that day was something that I had known and done before. Through many other experiences I have had the constant reassurance that the Lord is there that he does care about each and every person here on the earth. I have felt the Holy Ghost's direction and the Love of my Father in Heaven guiding me where he needs me to go or what he needs me to.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
Family history work is important because we are doing work for people that cannot do the work for themselves. There are a lot of people that died without having the opportunity to hear the gospel and choose for themselves if they want to accept it. We do the work for them and give them the chances that they didn't get in life. We also give families the chance to be sealed for eternity.
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptized when I was 8 years old. I had been so excited that I was going to get baptized. I wanted so much to get my first set of scriptures that I knew my parents had gotten for my baptism. On my baptism day I got dressed in the white clothes and sat next to my parents as a couple of people we had asked to speak talked about baptism. When my dad and I finally got into the font I was so happy, and as he said the words of the prayer I tried to listen to each and every word so that I would never forget what was going on. Afterward as I was getting dressed I felt so warm and tingly inside despite the fact that I had on soaking cold and wet clothes.
How I live my faith
I love this church. I have had many callings. Some have been scary while others have been a great blessing. My most important calling is being a temple worker. I have had the opportunity to be in the sealing room and see families sealed for eternity, or to see a new bride and her groom start their own celestial family. How sweet that has been to see the joy on the faces of those you are doing work for or assisting with. I have been a Relief Society President in a singles ward. That was a hard calling, but very rewarding. Learning to love all the sisters and be in tune to each of their needs. And watch them grow in the gospel. I am a visiting teacher and how fun that is to go to the sisters homes and share a message each month, to cry with them when they have been hurt or experienced a loss in their lives. Your heart rejoices when they do and it breaks with them when they grieve. I love all the callings I have had, and the instrument I have been in the Lords hands.
