Blair: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Blair

I'm a worker. I'm a wife and mom. I am Happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the 6th of 9 children. I love family and I love being home with my family. I guess I am a homebody. I love to read, create beautiful places in my home, and ballroom dance. My husband, on the other hand, loves adventure and a fast pace. He loves flying down the slopes on a snowboard, and zooming over sand dunes on a motorcycle, both of which I have nervously consented to participate in with him. (speed was never my strong suit.) However, we both love when life slows down a little, allowing us to play with our kids and spend time relaxing together at home. My days are filled with hide and seek, coloring, and feeding children. I also love a clean and organized home, so I am ever working towards that end. Being the mother of two (almost three) and the wife of a full-time law student keeps me busy. Not only do I have motherhood as full time work, but I also do babysitting, and some real estate and other paralegal work at home to help while my husband is in school. Sometimes life is stressful but we try to make it fun along the way.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone has thought about life's major questions. But the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has actual answers. We are not a group that is notoriously vague about life after death. That's what I love about my church. I don't have to wonder why I am here on this earth or where I am going afterwards. Our doctrine is clear, precise, and understandable because Heavenly Father has revealed those answers to us. I have come to know for myself that this is all part of the Plan of Salvation, which is also the Plan of Happiness. That's why my day-to-day has meaning and joy. I know there is a purpose for even the struggles in life, and that I am strengthened as I overcome them through following my Savior and keeping His commandments. There is true happiness and peace in learning the Will of God and then living that way. The blessings in my life are unmistakeably connected to my decision to live this certain way, to keep commandments, and to make covenants with God that I will follow him. And I know for myself that Heavenly Father loves me. That's why he has given us more scriptures than just the Old and New Testaments; that's why He has given us a living prophet today! It is so we can continue to learn His will, and obtain real happiness on this earth. I have confidence that what I am working towards each day will bring me, my husband, and our family eternal happiness. That's why I am a Mormon.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

The Book of Mormon helps answer a lot of doctrinal questions that the Bible leaves a little confusing. Reading the Book of Mormon, I've come to know that God cares about all people and wants us to follow Him. It has helped me know how to do that in a way that is pleasing to him. It teaches me to pray always, feast on his words, and to love others. It also teaches that we must complete the necessary ordinances for salvation, such as baptism, to live with him again. Following these teaches has brought me peace and happiness in my life, and reminds me every time I read it the person I am trying to become, which is like Him.

How I live my faith

Everyday I get to teach my kids. I teach them through stories, I teach them through example. I teach them that living a chaste, virtuous, honest life will bring them joy. We live our faith by reading the scriptures and praying together daily. I take my children to church every sunday so that they may hear the testimony of Jesus Christ from other people too. I also get the opportunity to visit some other ladies in my community, and as we share our lives with each other, I get to share my testimony of the Gospel with them. This strengthens both of us everytime we visit. The amazing thing about this is that I get to watch out for these few ladies, just as everyone in the church has someone watching out for them. We all work together to make sure we are all taken care of, that our needs are met, and that we have somewhere to turn for help if we need it. This is done as part of the women's organization in the church, of which I have the great priviledge right now to serve as secretary in my ward. This is part of living my faith, because I get to help my organization do as Jesus Christ taught, which is to care for the poor and the needy, lift up the hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.
