About Me

I'm a stay at home mommy to 2 beautiful girls (and a baby boy on the way!). I have a wonderful hubby who makes me laugh everyday. I believe in following your dreams and always try to see the glass half-full. I love all things Disney (I even used to work there!), crafting, blogging, traveling, reading, animals, finding great deals, and baking--well, I enjoy the end result of goodies more than the actual baking. I love spending time with friends, a girls night out can do wonders! I grew up in CT and I miss the seasons, but I love the people in AZ--even if it is way too hot here! All in all, I'm just a happy person who loves being surrounded by the people I love!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I had no idea this church existed. It was quite a shock moving to AZ in high school and being warned about 'the Mormons'. And I admit, I had no interest in learning about the LDS Church, but every Mormon I met was super nice. I eventually met my husband-to-be who was Mormon, we dated for a few years and then got married. It wasn't until a few years later that I converted. I went to church with him, just to spend time with him--no other reason, and I noticed something when people went up to bear their testimonies. They all seemed to have a very personal relationship with God, which was something I'd never really expericenced. It made an impression on me, but it wasn't until my oldest daughter was 18 months that I really came to learn about being sealed in the temple for time and eternity. I knew then that I wanted my little family to be together forever. So I started talking to the missionaries and praying to know if the church was true. My answer came little by little, but eventually I knew for myself that it was true. I was baptized and our family was sealed in the temple a year later. It was without a doubt the happiest day of my life. I could feel how pleased Heavenly Father was with me and my decision and I felt complete happiness and peace. Nothing else in the world has brought me the joy of knowing for sure that this Gospel is true and that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father know and love me--individually--and that my family is forever.

How I live my faith

I think the most important part of living my faith is serving others. Helping out however you can, babysitting, bringing meals to those in need and being a friend to someone who needs you. I truly feel service is one of the biggest elements of our church. I love helping my fellow church members and friends of other faiths. Being a convert, sometimes I feel I'm lacking in some areas. I don't have Bible verses memorized and I'm still learning so much, but I have everything I need to serve others already!

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

My father is gay and I have many friends who are gay. Though we have some differing opinions and beliefs, we have a great relationship - each respecting the other's right to choose their own way. Its no secret that the Church does not support gay marriage. We believe that God's plan for the family is, always has been and always will be a man and a woman and their children. However, the perception that the church is anti-gay is inaccurate. We support the rights of all men and woman to exercise their free agency and be entitled to the same legal rights as anyone, as long as they don't erode the principles on which our country was founded - freedom of religion. The scriptures affirm that homosexual behaviors are a sin, but I believe Christ understands the extreme difficulty that a gay person would experience refusing to act upon their same-sex attraction. I also believe that through Him, all things are possible and that no person is unworthy or undeserving of His love and the benefits of His atonement.

In the New Testament Paul preaches against homosexual behavior, as does Moses in the Old Testament. In this day, God still speaks against homosexual actions through His holy prophets. Regardless of the good and bad choices we make in this life, we are each beloved sons and daughters of God. We were spiritually begotten of Him before the world was, and He offered the Plan of Salvation to us so that we could return and live with him again after this life. Not one of us here on the earth is perfect. We each struggle with different things on this journey and because of those things we could never return to Gods presence unless a greater power came to our aid. Christ has provided the means whereby we can overcome these things and return to God again. Anything can be overcome, for Christ has already overcome the world Alma 711-14 We strive to love everyone, for everyone deserves that. The Family is being bombarded on every side with the evil influences of Satan, and to stem that tide we must stand for the Sacredness of our Families. We celebrate and honor the Sanctity of the Family, and invite all men and women everywhere to do the same.
In the words of Beloved Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, "We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. We believe that marriage may be eternal through exercise of the power of the everlasting priesthood in the house of the Lord.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We are all saved by grace no matter how we have lived our life, as long as we believe in Christ and believe that he is our Savior. Most Christian religions believe that this is all there is to being saved. Mormons believe this for the part of being saved in which the body of flesh is reunited with the spirit. For this part of being saved, yes, Mormons believe that all people, no matter how they have lived their lives, will be saved and have their body reunited with their spirit at the resurrection through the grace of God. However, Mormons also believe there is another part to Christ's atonement and being saved, and that refers to his taking on of our sins. To be saved from our sins, and take upon us the name of Christ such that his atonement will wash away our sins and we will have everlasting life in God's presence, we must repent of our sins. After we have done all that we can do, then the grace of God will wash away our sins because of Christ's atoning sacrifice on our behalf.
