I'm a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and teaching my children to love one another, serve, work, and be an asset to the community. Now that my children are grown, I love to play with my grand-kids. I love to sew, decorate cakes, and play racquetball. I have been a cub scout leader for many years and now work with the scout troop. I try to volunteer my time helping others. For many years I have been involved with the American Mothers Organization.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is Christ's church. Christ is my savior and redeemer. I am so grateful for what Christ has suffered for me and how He helps me through the trials of daily life. I know that I am a child of God and He love me and wants me to succeed. I am grateful for the understanding of life with God before this life and for a life after we die. It helps me to know and understand that I will see my little girl again since she left this earth life at such a young age.

How I live my faith

I have worked with several different groups in the church. I loved teaching the children in the nursery who were between 18 months and 3 yrs. old. They have such trust and love their teachers. I also was the leader for the children from 18 months to 12 years old. It was great to see how parents teach their children about a loving Heavenly Father and how they teach them stories from the scriptures. I loved teaching them and how they had a hunger for knowledge. What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

The husband is the head of the home. That doesn't mean he is the boss of everything. Husband and wife should work together and discuss things that pertain to family, discipline, home, finances and work. Each should be SELFLESS and concerned about what is best for the family not just what is best for one's self and what one 's own wants are. The wife if at all possible should be at home to teach the children and the husband working to support the family. But they should agree on how to raise the children. Consistency with children is important and if the parents don't agree on things then how can the children learn what is right and wrong and what is important. The children also learn what is important in a marriage if they see their parents working together and not fighting.

Husband and wife in a marriage are meant to be equal, partners. The husband is the head of the household and is responsible for the temporal welfare of his family. His role is to support his wife. The wife is also to support her husband and to nurture her family both spiritually and emotionally. Husband and wife are meant to work side by side in providing a safe haven from the world for their family. Their roles are different, but equally important and essential to building the family and the community.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

For me, God's plan for us is about families, a husband and wife and kids. But all people are children of God who deserve love and respect, including those who have different views about same sex marriage. However, when I really don't know, I turn to what prophets of God have said.

“People inquire about our position on those who consider themselves so-called gays and lesbians. My response is that we love them as sons and daughters of God. They may have certain inclinations which are powerful and which may be difficult to control. Most people have inclinations of one kind or another at various times. If they do not act upon these inclinations, then they can go forward as do all other members of the Church. If they violate the law of chastity and the moral standards of the Church, then they are subject to the discipline of the Church, just as others are.

“We want to help these people, to strengthen them, to assist them with their problems and to help them with their difficulties. But we cannot stand idle if they indulge in immoral activity, if they try to uphold and defend and live in a so-called same-sex marriage situation. To permit such would be to make light of the very serious and sacred foundation of God-sanctioned marriage and its very purpose, the rearing of families” (Ensign, Nov. 1998, 71).

When I think of how hard this must be for many, I think of our faith in Jesus Christ. He loves us and has given us guidance through prophets, we just need to follow.
